Data Engineer | Chesterfield, Missouri, United States Data Engineer (Remote, Contract - Through Year End) About the Role Join an exciting, enterprise-scale data modernization initiative as a Data Engineer, partnering with a forward-thinking team to build and enhance a cutting-edge data platform utilizing Databricks and Microsoft Azure. You'll provide hands-on development and technical direction, directly shaping the accessibility and usefulness of enterprise data to accelerate analytics and enable future AI capabilities. This fully remote contract offers immediate impact opportunities and the chance to advance your cloud-based data engineering skills in a collaborative, growth-oriented environment. Responsibilities - Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines with Databricks, Azure Data Factory, Python, and SQL - Build and optimize data ingestion, transformation, and aggregation processes across diverse sources - Develop robust data layers to enhance accessibility for BI, analytics, and AI initiatives - Collaborate with architects, engineers, and business stakeholders to deliver high-value data products - Create and refine datasets to support Power BI reporting and analytics - Integrate and standardize data for enterprise-wide analytics, particularly in workers' compensation - Contribute to data architecture decisions and establish best practices in Azure and Databricks - Participate in code reviews, testing, deployment, and ongoing platform optimization - Drive long-term improvements in data usability, self-service analytics, and user experience Required Skills and Experience - 3+ years in data engineering, ETL development, or data platform roles - Proficient with Databricks, Python, and SQL - Hands-on experience with Azure Data Factory and cloud-based data platforms - Proven track record with ETL/ELT pipeline development, data ingestion, transformation, and modeling - Experience supporting analytics or reporting teams through curated datasets - Strong communication skills with the ability to engage technical and business stakeholders Preferred Skills - Experience in workers' compensation, insurance, healthcare, or financial services - Familiarity with Power BI, Azure cloud services, and data lake environments - Exposure to GitHub, CI/CD pipelines, and containerized/cloud-native architectures - Experience supporting data science, machine learning, or AI initiatives Benefits - 100% remote work flexibility - Opportunity to work on high-impact, enterprise-scale data initiatives - Collaborative, growth-focused team culture - Fast-paced environment with direct influence on data modernization and AI readiness How to Apply Ready to accelerate your data engineering career and drive digital transformation?
