CED's current salary range for this role is $30.50 - $39.50 per hour. At CED, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions may vary based upon, but not limited to education, skills, experience, proficiency, performance, shift, location and geography. In addition to base salary, the total compensation package may also include participation in a bonus, commission or incentive program.  JOB SUMMARY:

A Level II Non-Destructive Testing (NDT)/Radiographic Testing Technician is responsible for performing radiographic inspections using computed radiography (CR) and Neutron Radiography (N-Ray) film to ensure parts and assemblies meet defined quality and safety standards. The role includes preparing and setting up radiographic equipment, conducting controlled X-ray exposures, and interpreting radiographic images in accordance with established inspection procedures. 

 ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: 

• Interpret computed radiographs and N-Ray films to evaluate whether parts or assemblies meet the requirements outlined in applicable inspection procedures and documentation
• Organize test results and complete associated reports
• Accurately complete daily radiation reports and checklists
• Set up and operate a variety of NDT/RT equipment, ensuring all devices are properly configured for specified X-ray techniques
• Monitor and perform calibration of non-destructive testing equipment to maintain accuracy, reliability, and compliance with required standards
• Conduct radiographic safety checks, and process control tests
• Perform radiographic inspections using approved techniques to detect discontinuities (defects) and ensure product quality, including specialized examinations when required
• Apply testing criteria and specifications to evaluate radiographic results and confirm compliance with established standards
• As directed, provide training and expertise to junior level technicians
• As required, support internal and external process audits
• Occasionally travel to customer sites or other designated facilities to support inspection activities

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:

N/A

EDUCATION:

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Certification as a Level II Radiographic Testing (RT) Technician in Computed Radiography in accordance with NAS 410 is required
• Industrial Radiography Radiation Safety Personnel (IRRSP) certification, or equivalent state-issued radiography safety credential is required

EXPERIENCE: 

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in non-destructive testing, including at least 1 year of radiographic testing (RT) in accordance with NAS 410 or equivalent standards 
• Previous experience performing computed radiography (CR) and N-Ray film inspections preferred 
• Experience working in a manufacturing or aerospace/defense environment is a plus

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

• Lawful US Person (ITAR restrictions)
• Must be eligible to possess explosives under the Safe Explosives Act of 2003 (as amended) as required by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF) for all employees of Chemring Energetic Devices
• Proven ability to perform Level II NDT tasks accurately and consistently, including interpretation and evaluation of inspection results 
• Ability to represent the Company positively and professionally through behavior, attitude and communication
• Strong technical background in non-destructive testing (NDT) methods, standards, and procedures
• Ability to follow established directions, procedures, and work instructions consistently
• Solid working knowledge of NDT equipment, tools, and associated inspection technologies
• Strong commitment to safety and adherence to established safety practices
• Working knowledge of quality management systems, preferably AS9100 or comparable standards
• Demonstrated mechanical and computational aptitude and problem-solving ability
• Flexibility and adaptability to shifting priorities and changing schedules
• Effective teamwork skills with the ability to collaborate across functions; clear, accurate, and timely communication with internal departments 

PHYSICAL AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

Lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, or otherwise moving objects weighing up to 50 pounds occasionally and very light items frequently. Involves sitting most of the time but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time. Use of computer. May require working for extended periods. Occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock, and explosives.
