Job description

Non-Destructive Test (NDT) Technician 1 in  GAC Savannah


Unique Skills:

  • Must have formal training certifications and signed/supervised OJT log or Level 3 signed document of attestation
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite programs (Excel, Power Point, Word)

Preferred:

  • Certifiable to Level 2 in ET or RT
  • Automated inpsection systems (TTU and/or Immersion)
  • Computed Radiography
  • Solumina
  • Phased Array ultrasound (PAUT)


 

Education and Experience Requirements
High School Diploma or GED required. 1 year of NDT related experience required.. Must be able to obtain certification in one NAS 410 NDT method within 1 year. Other Certification in any NAS 410 NDY methods preferred. ASQ certificate (American Society for Quality) preferred. Position Purpose: In a team-oriented environment, performs all tasks in area of responsibility in a timely and efficient manner to ensure aircraft parts, sub-assemblies, major assemblies and installations are built to type design data.
Job Description
Principle Duties and Responsibilities: Essential Functions:
  1. Perform non-destructive tests (NDT) and determine product acceptability to the authorized limits of the NDT level obtained in accordance with prescribed methods and procedures.
  2. Record, organize and evaluate test results and enter results into applicable documents.
  3. Ensure compliance to all radiation safety rules and regulations and provide protection to self and others during testing.
  4. Maintain equipment and assure calibration for tests to be performed.
  5. Maintain inventory control of area equipment.
Additional Functions:
  1. Works with and assists other NDT Technicians as required. .
  2. Coordinates NDT inspection workload according to priorities, efficiency and cost effectiveness .
  3. Provides technical assistance to subordinate level NDT technicians .
  4. Performs process control on area inspection equipment .
  5. Performs exposure room interlock safety checks, establishes radiation safety barriers, zeros pocket dosimeters, operates radiation survey meters and completes applicable survey logs and forms .
  6. Performs automated ultrasonic C-scan inspection of composite parts .
  7. Must be available to work any shift .
Perform other duties as assigned. Other Requirements:
  1. Must provide formal NDT training records.
  2. NDT experience on determining product acceptability preferred.
  3. Experience in blueprint reading and interpretation.
  4. Must be able to read a scale and perform basic shop math.
  5. Read and comprehend basic documents and instructions.
  6. Must have essential personal and communication skills.
  7. Must demonstrate good housekeeping and safety practices.
  8. Proficiency in current computer-based software.
  9. Must be able to lift and transport objects up to 40 pounds.
This job requires one to be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
