The Role

Responsible for overseeing the Quality Control Department in all aspects i.e., supervisory, quality, maintenance, accountability, etc.

Tests and inspects products at various stages of production process and compiles and evaluates statistical data to determine and maintain quality and reliability of products by performing the following duties.

What you will be responsible for:

  • Supervisor will be on the floor providing supervision and working with material/product 80% of time, 20% office duty.
  • Maintain department housekeeping.
  • Training of all quality Inspectors
  • Perform other related duties as directed.
  • Create a positive team atmosphere within the department.
  • Provide leadership by example to the departmental team
  • Responsibilities, as assigned by the Quality Manager, will include planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Carries out inspection and test activities in accordance with established quality plans, engineering specifications, and procedures to determine the specified requirements for the product have been met.
  • Performs dimensional and visual inspection and/or testing of materials and products to determine compliance.
  • Records the results, which provide evidence that the product has been inspected and/or tested.
  • These records should show clearly whether the product has passed or failed in accordance with established criteria.
  • The supervisor is required to handle any nonconforming product in accordance with established work instructions and other quality system procedures.
  • Must be able to read and interpret Engineering drawings and Customer specifications.
  • Must have working knowledge of all industry welding codes and standards.
  • Working knowledge of Nondestructive Examinations, and Powder Coating.
  • Must be able to use a variety of precision and non-precision inspection and test equipment.
  • Inspector is expected to interface with Manufacturing and Engineering personnel and provide support, if necessary, in interpreting and defining product quality criteria.
  • This position may also require operating overhead or jib crane.
  • Regular attendance, ability to arrive at work punctually, ability to work on–site, ability to work overtime.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with others, ability to deal respectfully with the public, customers, vendors, other employees, managers, and executive management.
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks concurrently, ability to work in a fast-paced environment, ability to interchange with others in the department.
  • Performance Standards:
  • Safety incident free department.
  • Perform assigned work in accordance with productivity standards.
  • Monitors and maintains established metrics including, but not limited to, Delivery Accuracy, Safety and Inventory Accuracy
  • Correctly identifies and segregates non-compliant material.
  • Creates and submits cost reduction ideas.
  • Performs all duties in compliance with all safety standards.
  • Autonomy/Accountability:
  • Performs duties with little supervision. Accountable for the safe working conditions of their work area.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for overseeing the Quality Control Department in all aspects, i.e., supervisory, quality, maintenance, accountability, etc.

COMPETENCY OR POSITION REQUIREMENTS (knowledge, skills, and abilities)

  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, memos, and procedure manuals in English.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence in English.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE (required levels)

  • High school diploma or GED. Minimum of five (5) years of experience as a Quality Control Supervisor. Experience with calibration of inspection and test equipment preferred. Experience in an ISO 9001 environment preferred.
  • Non-Destructive Testing Certification preferred.
