Job Title: NDT Inspector

Job Description

The NDT Inspector plays a critical role in ensuring the structural integrity and performance of aircraft components through precise non-destructive inspection and balancing processes. Working in a controlled shop environment, this role focuses on Level II non-destructive testing, static and dynamic balancing of rotating components, and related maintenance services on a variety of aircraft parts and assemblies.

Responsibilities

• Perform Level II non-destructive testing (NDT) inspections, including Fluorescent Penetrant Testing (FPI), Magnetic Particle Inspection (MPI), and other applicable methods in accordance with FAA regulations and OEM specifications.
• Interpret inspection indications and evaluate the acceptability of aircraft components based on applicable industry standards and regulatory requirements.
• Document inspection results thoroughly and accurately, ensuring all records are traceable and compliant with internal procedures and customer requirements.
• Maintain NDT equipment in accordance with established procedures to ensure reliable operation and consistent inspection quality.
• Verify that all NDT and balancing equipment calibrations are current and properly recorded.
• Conduct dynamic and static balancing of rotating components such as impellers, fans, and rotors to meet specified balance criteria.
• Operate precision balancing equipment, interpret balancing results, and adjust components to achieve required balance specifications.
• Record balancing data and generate detailed reports in compliance with internal quality standards and customer expectations.
• Apply quality inspection and quality control practices to ensure that all work meets aviation and aerospace safety and performance standards.
• Collaborate effectively with team members, communicate clearly in English, and contribute to a cooperative and deadline-driven work environment.
• Maintain strong attention to detail in all inspection, balancing, and documentation activities to support traceability and regulatory compliance.

Essential Skills

• Minimum of 2 years of experience and/or specialized service in an aviation or aerospace environment.
• NAS 410 or ASNT Level II certification in at least Fluorescent Penetrant and Magnetic Particle non-destructive testing methods.
• Hands-on experience performing non-destructive testing inspections, including FPI and MPI, in a regulated environment.
• Working knowledge of FAA Part 145 repair station procedures and associated documentation requirements.
• Experience using balancing machines to perform static and dynamic balancing of rotating components and interpret balance reports.
• Proficiency in inspection and non-destructive testing practices, including NDT Level II techniques and quality inspection methods.
• Strong understanding of quality control principles as they apply to aviation and aerospace component inspection.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
• Ability to work well under pressure, meet daily deadlines, and maintain high standards of accuracy.
• Demonstrated ability to function as a cooperative team player in a technical shop environment.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to documentation accuracy in all inspection and balancing activities.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with Level III NDT is a plus.
• Previous experience balancing aviation components such as APU rotors, fans, or air cycle machine components.
• Knowledge of aviation maintenance software systems.
• Spanish language skills are a plus.
• Experience in nondestructive testing, ultrasonic inspection, and advanced NDT inspection techniques.
• Familiarity with inspection workflows and documentation practices used in aviation and aerospace quality control environments.

Work Environment

This role is based in an air-conditioned shop environment with a regular schedule from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The work is performed in a controlled setting designed for aircraft component inspection and balancing, using specialized NDT and precision balancing equipment. The environment supports focused, detail-oriented technical work and adherence to aviation repair station procedures.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Miami, FL.

The pay range for this position is $32.00 - $35.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
