Job description


Nemours Children's Health is seeking a board certified/board eligible Pediatric Emergency Medicine physician with an academic interest in clinical or translational research to join our dynamic, close-knit group at the Nemours Children's Hospital, Delaware (NCH-DE) in Wilmington, DE.
The Division of Emergency Medicine consists of a team of 23 PEM trained physicians, 7 general pediatricians, 7 fellows, 10 Physician Assistants and a Nurse Practitioner. The team cares for approximately 58,000 patients a year in our 44-bed state of the art facility that opened in 2014 as part of a major expansion of the hospital. The Nemours Emergency Department is also home to a 6-bed behavioral health unit that opened in 2023 and shares oversight and staffing with psychiatry to better serve our patients requiring psychiatric care. NCH-DE is a multi-specialty pediatric hospital and is the only ACS certified pediatric Level I trauma center in the state. We have a large catchment area, including all of DE, as well as surrounding states including PA, NJ, and MD.
The Division has an expanding research emphasis and team members are active in research and quality improvement. We are a member of the GLACiER node of PECARN, and are actively involved in multi-center studies, both within and outside PECARN. The research infrastructure available to the division includes grants and proposal development and a research team that assists with study activities.
Interested applicants should have prior research experience. The position offers protected time commensurate with experience.
Our division has a strong educational mission and acts as a clinical home to many recognized outstanding educators. NCH-DE acts as the main hospital for residents from the Pediatric Residency Program of Sidney Kimmel Medical College of Thomas Jefferson University/Nemours Children's Health, Delaware. We also serve as a pediatric clerkship site for students rotating from Sidney Kimmel Medical College (SKMC) and as a teaching site for residents in Emergency Medicine and Family Medicine programs from throughout the area. Faculty appointment and advancement are available through SKMC.
