No Experience Welding information

What are some common challenges faced by entry-level welders with no prior experience, and how can they overcome them?

Entry-level welders often encounter challenges such as mastering precise hand-eye coordination, understanding safety procedures, and adapting to different welding techniques. Many beginners also find it difficult to read blueprints or interpret welding symbols at first. To overcome these challenges, it's helpful to seek guidance from experienced colleagues, take advantage of on-the-job training, and practice consistently in a supervised environment. Employers usually provide comprehensive safety training and mentorship to help new welders build confidence and develop their technical skills.

These skills and qualities are crucial for building a solid foundation, ensuring safety, and progressing in the welding trade.

Pay: $45.00 to $47.00 per hour (base $42.00 to $44.00/hour plus $3.00 second-shift premium), plus overtime and full benefits

Tired of being the most skilled tech in the shop and the least recognized? You've put in the years. You hold your ticket. You can diagnose and repair anything that rolls through the bay. Now you want a shop with the trucks, the technology, and the tools to match your skill, and a company that recognizes what you're worth.

We are recruiting on behalf of a global leader in commercial truck and trailer leasing, maintenance, and transportation solutions. This is a clean, modern, well-equipped shop with OEM training and real room to grow. If you are a Red Seal or journeyperson truck technician ready for your next move, we want to talk to you.

What you'll do

As a Technician I, you'll diagnose, overhaul, adjust, and repair all series of motor truck and trailer equipment, working independently and efficiently with little to no supervision.

  • Perform all levels of preventive maintenance
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot major components such as engines, transmissions, and differentials, including replacing complete assemblies, turbochargers, and fuel system components
  • Inspect brake systems, steering, wheel bearings, and safety devices to spec
  • Road test vehicles to confirm repairs and diagnose malfunctions
  • Identify warrantable repairs and document them on the repair order
  • Use the full range of hand, power, diagnostic, and welding tools of the trade
  • Keep your work area clean, organized, and safe
What you bring
  • 5+ years of hands-on tractor-trailer maintenance experience
  • Red Seal (Truck and Transport Mechanic or Transport Trailer Technician) or active provincial journeyperson certification
  • Current membership or registration with the respective government trade body
  • Class 3 (or D) driver's licence with air brake endorsement, or the ability to obtain one within 6 months of hire
  • Proficiency with diagnostic equipment, welding equipment, and hand and power tools
  • Comfortable working in non-climate-controlled conditions
  • Reliable, full-time attendance and willingness to travel within the district as needed
Pay and benefits

This evening shift pays $45.00 to $47.00/hour, and that's just the starting point.

  • Base rate of $42.00 to $44.00/hour
  • $3.00/hour second-shift premium, already built into the rate above
  • Overtime paid at premium rates
  • Weekend premium available when applicable
  • RRSP program with company match
  • Tool and boot allowance
  • Free uniforms and laundry service
  • Affordable health and dental benefits package
  • Vacation time, 11 paid statutory holidays, and paid sick days
  • Tuition reimbursement and comprehensive OEM technical training
  • Employee Assistance Program
  • Partner discounts
  • Real opportunity for advancement throughout the company
