We are a full-service veterinary medical facility located in Huntsville, AL. The professional and courteous staff at Huntsville Pet Vet seeks to provide the best possible medical, surgical, and dental care for our highly valued patients. Our veterinary clinic is run by Dr. Matthew Bargo, a licensed and experienced veterinarian who bought Huntsville Pet Vet in April 2022.

Job Description

Job duties include, but are not limited to:

Pet restraint, triage incoming patients, collection and analysis of lab samples, diagnostic imaging, management and nursing care of medical and hospitalized cases with varying degrees of stability, administration of medications, effective communication of treatment plans with clients, surgical preparation and assistance, and anesthetic management.

Must be able to withstand unpleasant odors and noises. May be exposed to bites, scratches, animal waste and potentially contagious diseases.

Qualifications

We're looking for:

  • Prior experience as a veterinary assistant or veterinary technician preferred. 
  • Experience in exam rooms, treatment area, surgery, dentals and their associated technical skills is preferred. 
  • Ability to create, monitor, and maintain detailed/accurate patient records.
  • Proactive mindset, with a strong ability to anticipate our doctors' needs.
  • An ability to effectively educate our clients about their pet's health.
  • Effective Communication Skills are Paramount
  • Ability/Desire to Practice Stress-Free Pet Care
  • Empathy and compassion for our patients and their owners is a must.
  • We prefer a Registered or Licensed Veterinary Technician, however, a Veterinary Assistant with extensive experience and appropriate skill sets will be considered.
  • Comfortability with anasthesia monitoring and protocols preferred.
