Job description

UT Anderson is a leading institution focused on cancer care, research, education, and prevention. The Research Assistant II role supports translational and clinical research efforts focused on advanced prostate cancer through the collection, analysis, interpretation, and presentation of complex research data. The Research Assistant II works closely with research investigators to advance scientific discovery and improve outcomes for individuals affected by cancer.

Within GU Medical Oncology, the Research Assistant II contributes to prospective clinical trials and retrospective studies, supports detailed clinical annotation activities, and maintains critical research datasets. The Research Assistant II is expected to work independently, apply advanced research techniques, and actively contribute to scientific projects that align with UT MD Anderson's mission. The ideal candidate will Bachelor's, Master's, or higher degree in a basic science discipline with a strong foundation in scientific research principles and methodologies.

Demonstrated experience in research documentation, data management, and basic statistical analysis. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat, GraphPad Prism, and other research-related software is preferred. The ideal candidate possesses strong analytical and critical thinking skills, excellent verbal and written communication abilities, and a capacity for innovative problem-solving.

KEY FUNCTIONS: 1. Independently, performs and assists in the assembly, organization, analysis and interpretation of translational and clinical data pertaining to advanced prostate cancer, has immunology and biology background and experience in the interpretation of molecular biology techniques for tissue samples including immunohistochemistry, immunofluorescence and next generation sequencing assays. .

2. Knowledge in the following procedures are required: Conduct of prospective and retrospective research projects Manage data collection and entry; perform statistical analysis and create publication-ready tables, figures, and graphs Comprehensive ability in EPIC, OnCore, and RedCap Proposal/manuscript/abstract writing Scientific abstract and poster preparation Manuscript submission 2. Communicate information: Must be able to communicate results to and understand instructions from project leader, supervisor and principal investigator.

Clear and accurate communication in English both face-to-face and over the telephone/Zoom is required Provide oral progress reports in an organized, consistent manner using scientific slides. A willingness to cooperate with other staff, students, fellows and visitors is essential. A willingness to train and instruct staff, students, fellows and visitors.

3.Acquire and develop new techniques: Must possess flexibility and have the ability to learn and establish novel techniques and protocols for new research lines. Independently reads and understands scientific literature for application to ongoing research. 4

Computer literacy: Must be able to learn and use software related to data acquisition, image analysis and presentation6.Other duties as assigned

EDUCATION: Required: Bachelor's Degree Basic Science. Preferred: Master's Degree Basic Science or Medical Degree EXPERIENCE: Required: One year scientific or experimental research work experience. With preferred degree, no experience.
