About the Job:

Participates in the design, development, testing, implementation and support of the Vulcan Asset Management (VAM) technology solutions.  Acts as project partner for VAM projects including those of a complex nature.  This includes working closely with cross-functional teams to understand requirements, discuss findings, and develop solutions so that data-driven decisions can be made effectively.  Provides training and support to users, including administrators and end-users, to maximize their understanding of technology solutions.  Duties may include instructing, directing and checking the work of other personnel.  


What You'll Do: 

  • Understand Business Problems. Works with business representatives and other IT personnel in the development of business requirements and develops associated technical requirements and design documentation for approval.  Assist in the development of test plans and performs all unit testing required to ensure programs and systems meets business and technical requirements.

  • Create Solutions.  Responsible for developing, installing, testing and maintaining approved application changes. To ensure defined and approved business requirements are met, data integrity is maintained and processes are efficient.  Assist support personnel and business representatives in the development of test plans, training documentation and system documentation.

  • Data Analysis.  Identifies relevant data from various sources such as databases, spreadsheets, or other various systems to drive creation of reports, dashboards, and visual representations of data using tools like Excel, or Tableau to facilitate understanding and decision-making. Ensures data quality by thoroughly evaluating data sources and removing inconsistencies, errors, and duplicates.  

  • Improve Business Performance. Improve business performance by problem solving and troubleshooting as part of a project team.

  • Communication. Prepares and assists with creation of VAM presentations and reports for dissemination across the organization. 

  • Compliance. Ensures the integrity, confidentiality, and proper handling of data in compliance with privacy regulations and organizational policies.

  • Vendor Liaison. Assist with the day-to-day liaison for the organization's enterprise VAM technology vendors and Vulcan Materials Company. 

What We're Looking For: 

Education:

  • Bachelor Degree in Computer Science or a related field preferred, but relevant work experience may substitute for formal education.  

Required:

  • Inquisitive personality with strong problem-solving skills and the ability to quickly learn new technologies and implement them in a business environment.

  • Works well in a team, open to gathering and sharing technical knowledge with others.

  • Excellent planning, organizational, interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to communicate effectively with people at all levels of the organization.

Preferred:

  • Prior experience with Oracle eBS applications such as eAM, Procurement, Inventory

  • A basic understanding of statistics, data analysis, and data visualization tools. 

  • Prior experience with Project Management is strongly preferred

  • Experience with programming languages such as Python, Go, Javascript, PowerShell, C# .NET.

  • Familiarity with databases and query languages such as SQL Server, SQLite, T-SQL.

  • A basic understanding of statistics, data analysis, and data visualization tools. 

  • Knowledgeable in machine learning statistical tools and methods, familiarity with latest research and methodologies.

  • Familiar with software development best practices of version control such as Git, continuous integration, continuous delivery CI/CD, DevOps. 

  • Bilingual capabilities are not required, but are a plus.

Hourly Range. The hourly range for this role is between $21.62 - $31.19.  This range is not inclusive of our discretionary bonus or equity package.  When determining a candidate's compensation, we consider a number of factors, including skillset, experience, job scope, and current market data.
