Job description

This is a Grave B position (Wednesday, Thursday, Friday 6pm - 6:30am) and starts at $18.50 per hour plus a $2.00 differential while working grave shift.


US Synthetic has an immediate need for a Bearings CNC Operator located in Orem, UT. The Bearings CNC Operator will set up and run Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machinery for Polycrystalline Diamond Compound (PDC) bearings production. Apply Lean manufacturing principles at the worksite to maintain a high-quality standard and maximize productivity.

What You Will Do:

  • Set up and run CNC lathe and mill machines for bearings production, including EDM and grinding machine work
  • Read and follow a product specification print
  • Inspect and measure parts for accuracy and conformance to product specifications
  • Follow standard work i.e. standard sequence, standard in-process stock, critical knowledge, etc.
  • Crosstrain on multiple pieces of equipment and processes to maximize capabilities and productivity
  • Rotate as needed among all necessary processes
  • Work at required pace (Takt)
  • Continuously improve the work through Kaizen
  • Safety focus through best known methods & practices
  • Record and analyze data to improve KPI metrics
  • Work well with others in a team environment
  • Follow all company policies (Attendance, No Tobacco Products on Campus, Illegal Drug & Alcohol, Family Medical Leave Act, Personal Appearance, Personal Electronic Devices, Vacation & Personal Time, etc.)

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma/GED is required
  • Immigration sponsorship not available for this role
  • Applicant must pass a bearings aptitude test and physical lift test


Physical Demands:

  • Required to stand for long periods of time up to 12 hours
  • Lifting regularly up to 50 lbs.
  • Have a full range of body motion (lifting, kneeling, squatting and twisting)
  • Use of Safety Equipment (safety glasses, steel-toed shoes, latex/nitrile gloves and respirator)


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point
  • Basic mathematical knowledge
  • Manual lathes and mills
  • CNC experience

  • Background in Lean principles
  • Willingness to keep work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition and follow prescribed safety regulations (5S)
  • Ability to use precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, gauges and electronic indicators, etc.
