Job description

Abaco Systems is a global leader in modular, high performance, open architecture, standards-based rugged embedded computing for the most demanding applications in defense and industry. Our products and solutions are found in high-profile military/aerospace sea, land and air programs, plus commercial and industrial organizations in which rugged reliability is mission critical.
As a Quality Inspector, you will be responsible for performing IPC Class 3 inspections of circuit card assemblies while supporting document control, data management, and workflow tracking within SharePoint, Smartsheet, and Microsoft Office tools. The position ensures compliance with AS9100 Quality Management System requirements and maintains controlled documentation supporting production and quality activities.
Role Responsibilities:
Inspection & Quality
  • Perform inspection of circuit card assemblies in accordance with IPC-A-610 Class 3 workmanship standards
  • Identify, document, and report defects with clear interpretation of IPC criteria
  • Read and interpret assembly drawings, specifications, and acceptance documentation
  • Document inspection results per company and customer requirements
  • Support corrective actions and continuous improvement initiatives

Document Control & Data Management
  • Maintain and control documents within SharePoint including revision control, approvals, and access permissions
  • Manage Smartsheet workflows for nonconformance tracking, inspection records, and dashboards
  • Ensure records are complete, accurate, and audit-ready including inspection and FAI documentation
  • Develop and maintain tracking tools using Excel, Access, or Smartsheet
  • Support internal, customer, and certification audits by retrieving required documentation
  • Maintain organized file structures and naming conventions for traceability
  • Coordinate document updates and approvals across departments

Communication & Continuous Improvement
  • Communicate effectively with technical staff, production teams, and leadership
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to resolve quality and documentation issues
  • Support LEAN manufacturing and process improvement initiatives
  • Identify opportunities for automation and efficiency improvements

Work Requirements:
  • Primarily first shift with flexibility for overtime and weekends as needed
  • The employee must be able to occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds and perform physical activities such as standing, walking, bending, stooping, and reaching, with or without reasonable accommodation.

Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma (minimum)
  • Minimum 2 years experience as an IPC inspector of circuit card assemblies
  • IPC-A-610 Certification (Class 3) required
  • Associate degree in electronics or related discipline preferred
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings

Skills and Competencies:
  • Military/Aerospace experience
  • Experience with AS9100 Quality Management System
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, SharePoint, and Smartsheet
  • Experience with ERP systems and CAD tools
  • Strong attention to detail and data integrity
