OVERVIEW: The Pilates instructor will use the methodology of Joseph Pilates to help train our members both privately, or in a small group (7 participants maximum), those exercises to improve muscular endurance, balance, stability and core strength. They should also be able to teach group formats without equipment as well. The ability to instruct additional group exercise modalities, or perform Personal Training services is encouraged, but not required.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Member Experience: Teach group Mat & Reformer Pilates classes for a range of clients, ranging from 55mins. Teach private Pilates to individuals, or small groups (2-3 people), focusing more on individual attention and designing Pilates programs based on posture types and ability. Teaching classes of mixed ability, catering for varying needs within a class offering adaptations and progressions as well as modifications where necessary. Comfortable with a diverse age range and varying fitness levels: (Orthopedic conditions/older adult/etc.) General tidying away of mats and equipment to ensure they are kept clean and tidy.
• Studio Operations: Arrive 10 minutes prior to start time, have music and room set up for class when members arrive. After class, general tidying of Pilates studio for organization and presentation.
• Member Engagement: Foster a positive and inclusive atmosphere by engaging with members throughout the class.
• Team Commitment: Attend department meetings, participate in employee activities, when possible, be available to sub particularly November through May including weekends and holidays.
COMPETENCIES - To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required.
• Must have a good working knowledge of anatomy and physiology.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, and TRAINING:
• Certified Pilates Instructor.
• CPR/AED Certification required.
• Preferably a minimum of 2 years' experience as a Pilates Instructor.
