Description

1-2 shifts per week or 2-4 shifts per pay period Shifts range from 8hrs to 12hrs and start as early as 7am and a closing shift ends at 8:30. Purpose

The Registered Nurse assumes responsibility and accountability for patients admitted to the PACU and discharged to an appropriate setting.

Responsibilities
  • The Registered Nurse will posses the ability to assess, plan, implement, evaluate and accurately document nursing care fo the post-operative surgery patient in the PACU.
  • The Registered Nurse will provide age-specific care for the pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patient population in the PACU environment.
  • Coordinates all aspects of nursing care with all disciplines of the post-operative/procedural team to achieve defined patient outcomes.
  • Provides safe environment for patients and family.
  • The Registered Nurse must posses the skill to provide appropriate education to the patient's family regarding their individualized plan of care.
  • Displays excellent customer service skills when interacting with patients, families, co-workers and physicians.
  • Practices within the guidelines of Louisiana State Board of Nursing Nurse Practice Act and ASPAN guidelines.
  • Complies with the policy and procedures set forth by the Surgical Specialty Center of Baton Rouge and all applicable regulatory bodies.
Qualifications

Completion of an approved nursing program, as evident by current RN licensure.

1-2 years of department-specific experience preferred.
