Position Overview

This position performs basic computer aided design and drafting (CADD) operations required to produce the structural design drawings utilized in the construction of bridge and traffic structures.

Essential Functions
  • Produces plans for simple to moderate structures.
  • Produces structural base sheets and standard drawings.
  • Keeps abreast of the computer aided design and drafting (CADD) system and increases knowledge in structural policies.
  • Performs duties in compliance with departmental safety rules. Performs all duties in a manner conducive to the fair and equitable treatment of all employees.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Completion of two years of college in civil engineering technology, pre-engineering or a job related technical/science curriculum PLUS twelve months of engineering experience OR Four years of engineering experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with CADD software
  • Ability to analyze and interpret engineering drawings
  • Ability to develop and maintain cooperative relationships with staff
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
