SUMMARY

Install, maintain, and repair machinery, equipment, physical structures, and pipe and electrical systems in industrial establishment by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Assist with the repair, maintenance and installation of machines, tools and equipment to ensure continuous production operations.
  • Maintains activities on utility systems to provide continuous supply of cooled water, electric power, gas and air required for operations.
  • Have the ability to assess situations and react quickly in emergencies.
  • Keep abreast of new products and technology in the Plant Engineering and Maintenance fields that will make the department more efficient.
  • Keep the facilities and equipment in best condition possible to meet safety, environmental, security, quality, production, and nonproduction demands.
    • Promote safety as top priority on the production floor.
    • Repair and or make updates recommended in the monthly safety audit.
    • Correct safety issues as deemed necessary to ensure a safe work environment.
  • Work extended hours and be on call nights and weekends when emergencies arise.
  • Act on job requests from all people in the company, prioritize and schedule the valid ones, and deny those that are not in the best interests of the Company.
  • Work with outside contractors – assisting with installation and/or repair of equipment by others.
  • Work closely with the safety, training, production, and other departments.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on machines and equipment and coordinate with production & other departments where necessary.
    • Daily inspection of cooling systems, air compressors, general equipment, etc.
    • Monthly inspection of exit lights, fire extinguishers, eye wash stations, metal hammers, hoists, AED, water softener, ladders, air compressor filters, ARC flash equipment, etc.
  • Maintain continuity of maintenance operations from one shift to the next.
    • Interact with 2nd and 3rd shifts on a daily basis.
  • Ability to read (and sometimes modify) electrical and mechanical machine prints.
    • American and foreign prints.
    • Hydraulic prints.
  • Be computer literate and able to communicate with all departments within the company on an as needed basis.
  • Be knowledgeable enough about the Plant Engineering and Maintenance functions to be able to keep the plant running day-to-day.
  • Have the knowledge, training and experience with operating machine shop equipment.
    • Lathe turning.
    • Surface grinding.
    • Welding
  • Performs other duties as required and directed by management.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
