Job Description
We are seeking Emergency Department Nurse Practitioners to join our team at Ridgecrest Regional Hospital. This is a full-time position in our Emergency Department, working three 12-hour shifts per week.
The ideal candidate will bring at least two years of direct ED or Urgent Care experience and will be skilled in managing acute and complex patient cases. NPs in this role will work collaboratively with physicians, nurses, and the ED team to provide safe, high-quality, patient-centered care.
Clinical Responsibilities
  • Provide comprehensive primary and emergency care for patients of all ages in accordance with standardized procedures.
  • Obtain health histories, perform physical examinations, and assess/manage physical and psychosocial problems.
  • Develop diagnostic, therapeutic, and teaching plans that include preventive health.
  • Manage emergency cases effectively and coordinate specialty referrals as needed.
  • Provide patient education, counseling, and family planning/STD counseling services.
  • Perform gynecologic screenings, diagnostic exams, and minimal prenatal care.
  • Assess and counsel individuals and families with mental health concerns.
  • Prescribe and adjust medications within the formulary, order diagnostic studies, and review laboratory and radiologic data for follow-up.
  • Maintain accurate and complete medical records.
  • Participate in NP meetings, special projects, and community health initiatives.
  • Demonstrate age-appropriate care skills across the patient population.
  • Ensure compliance with hospital policies, ethical standards, and the RRH Code of Conduct.
  • Establish and maintain a respectful and harassment-free work environment.

Collaborative Teamwork
This role involves working closely with physicians, nurses, and ED staff to deliver effective, patient-focused emergency services while contributing to a supportive and collaborative hospital culture.
Qualifications
  • Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program
  • Active California NP license
  • Minimum 2 years Emergency Department or Urgent Care NP experience (required)
  • DEA registration for prescribing authority
  • Strong diagnostic and treatment skills across a wide range of acute conditions
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
