About the Opportunity
U.S. Forensic, LLC, an ATS Family of Companies, is seeking experienced Structural and Mechanical Engineers to join our growing forensic engineering practice. We are looking for professionals who enjoy solving complex problems, conducting independent investigations, and delivering expert technical opinions that make a meaningful impact for clients.
Whether you are an experienced forensic engineer or a licensed engineer interested in transitioning into forensic consulting, this opportunity offers the chance to apply your expertise across a diverse range of residential, commercial, and industrial projects.
In this role, you will investigate complex failures, property damage, equipment malfunctions, defects, and loss events to determine cause, origin, extent, and responsibility. Successful candidates will leverage their technical expertise to evaluate evidence, develop defensible engineering opinions, and communicate findings through detailed reports, client consultations, and, when necessary, legal proceedings.
This position offers flexibility, autonomy, and the opportunity to work on a wide variety of challenging and impactful assignments.
Location: Remote Opportunities Available Nationwide
Travel: Regional travel for inspections and client meetings
Responsibilities
  • Conduct forensic investigations, accident reconstructions, and engineering evaluations to determine the cause, origin, extent, and responsibility of property damage, failures, defects, accidents, and other engineering-related incidents.
  • Perform site inspections and gather relevant data to support forensic analysis.
  • Utilize engineering principles and practices to analyze and assess structural issues.
  • Prepare clear and concise technical reports outlining findings and conclusions.
  • Provide expert testimony in legal proceedings when required.
  • Stay current with industry trends, codes, and standards related to structural engineering.

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license strongly preferred.
  • Ability to obtain additional state licensure as needed.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical writing skills.
  • Ability to communicate complex engineering concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Strong organizational and project management abilities.
  • Experience working with insurance carriers, attorneys, contractors, and other stakeholders is a plus.
  • Prior expert witness, deposition, or litigation support experience is beneficial but not required.
  • Willingness to travel regionally for inspections and investigations.
