No Experience Fly In Fly Out information

What is a no experience fly in fly out?

A No Experience Fly In Fly Out (FIFO) job is an entry-level position in the mining, oil and gas, or construction industries where workers are flown to remote job sites for a set period before returning home for time off. These roles often include general labor, kitchen staff, cleaning, or trade assistant positions and typically require minimal prior experience. Employers usually provide accommodation, meals, and transport, making FIFO an attractive option for those looking to start a career in resource industries.

What is the typical work schedule and living arrangement for a no experience fly in fly out position?

In most No Experience Fly In Fly Out (FIFO) roles, you will work in blocks or 'shifts' such as two weeks on and one week off, staying at on-site accommodation facilities provided by the employer during your rostered work period. The living arrangements usually include meals, shared recreational spaces, and basic amenities, so you’ll have what you need while away from home. This unique schedule allows for concentrated work periods followed by extended time off, making it important to be comfortable living and working closely with others in a remote environment. Most teams are diverse and supportive, and you will quickly build close working relationships with your colleagues. Adjusting to the FIFO lifestyle can be challenging at first, but many people find it rewarding and a great entry point into industries like mining, construction, and resource extraction.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in a no experience fly in fly out position, and why are they important?

To thrive in a No Experience Fly In Fly Out (FIFO) role, reliability, physical fitness, and a willingness to learn are essential, with most positions requiring minimal or no previous work experience but often a high school diploma or equivalent. Basic safety training or certifications such as a White Card (for construction) or First Aid may be needed depending on the job site and industry. Strong communication, adaptability to remote or changing environments, and teamwork set candidates apart. These capabilities are vital for succeeding in demanding FIFO schedules and contributing positively to remote site operations.

Assistant Project Manager (Commercial Installation)

T&M Services

Des Moines, IA • On-site

Full-time

Posted 22 days ago

Job description

Are you the kind of person who takes pride in seeing a plan come to life in the real world?

No matter how advanced technology gets, the future will always belong to leaders who can coordinate people, solve real-world problems on the fly, and deliver complex physical projects. As offices and workplaces reconfigure for a hybrid world T&M is the team physically making it happen. We install commercial spaces across the Midwest, and we’re growing fast.

We need an early-career Assistant Project Manager who wants to help keep our installation jobs running smoothly, on schedule, and profitable. Whether you’re graduating with a Construction Management degree, currently working as a field lead looking to step out of daily tool-belt labor, or doing junior project coordination, this is a real seat at the table.

The Role (In Plain English) You keep our commercial jobs running clean from start to finish. You are the operational bridge between our office, our field team, and the client.

  • Pre-Project Planning: You walk the job site, review installation drawings, coordinate start dates, and catch potential problems before the first truck even rolls.
  • Project Execution: As work happens, you keep the job on schedule, solve site layout issues on the fly, and document change orders so extra work gets billed.
  • Project Completion: At the finish line, you clear the punch list, get the client’s final sign-off, and hand accounting a clean file.

Some Honest Pros

  • It's like strapping yourself to a rocket: We’re obviously biased, but T&M is growing fast and well-positioned for the future. The next few years should be both fun and deeply rewarding for someone who enjoys this kind of environment.
  • Zero corporate stuffiness: We value common sense, hard work, and a good sense of humor over rigid bureaucracy. We work hard, but we don't take ourselves too seriously.
  • An actual career track: We don't hire people to leave them stuck in the same role forever. If you’ve got common sense, hustle, and an eye for detail, you’ll have room to grow.

Some Honest Cons

  • Job sites are pure chaos: Blueprints are rarely right, other contractors run late, and schedules change daily. You have to handle curveballs on the fly without losing your cool.
  • Awkward price talks: When plans change and extra work pops up, you have to explain the cost to the client without making them feel nickeled and dimed.
  • Chasing people down: Nobody gives you answers on a silver platter. You have to be comfortable bugging busy people until you get the specs and approvals you need.

Why Us? We work hard, have fun and build real things. If you want a chance to build a real career in commercial project management without the corporate BS, drop your resume. We’d love to talk.
