Job description

Description

The Project Engineer will support key aerospace customer programs, with an initial primary focus on supporting the SpaceX account. Acting as a central liaison between customers and Phoenix Manufacturing, Inc., this role will help manage day-to-day communication, track open orders and part status, coordinate project timelines, and help ensure customer requirements are translated clearly into internal action.

Over time, the Project Engineer may also support additional customers, programs, and strategic initiatives across the business based on workload, business needs, and individual development. This position blends project engineering and program coordination responsibilities, making it ideal for a technically minded individual with an engineering degree who is highly organized, responsive, and eager to grow in a fast-paced aerospace manufacturing environment.

The Project Engineer will support project planning, monitor schedules, communicate milestones and risks, collaborate cross-functionally with Engineering, Operations, Quality, and Supply Chain, and help drive on-time delivery, quality, and customer satisfaction for flight critical aerospace components. The role will require a team orientated individual who embodies the company values of Passion, Integrity, Determination, and Empathy.

Our Values:

Phoenix's core values are the shared beliefs and essential principles that guide our behavior and interactions with each other and our decision making. These four values are taught and modeled in all we do:

  • Passion: Belief in the mission and vision: Embrace the passion to bring it to life.
  • Integrity: Acting with honesty, transparency, and truthfulness, even when no one is looking
  • Determination: Driven to get the job done, regardless of the challenges.
  • Empathy: Show regard, respect, and courtesy for one another.

Essential Functions:

Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. The essential functions of this position include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Serve as the primary day-to-day representative and point of contact for Customers (such as SpaceX), ensuring clear, timely, and professional communication regarding order status, priorities, risks, and delivery commitments.
  • Track parts, work-in-progress, material availability, and production milestones from purchase order through final shipment.
  • Expedite internal and external actions needed to support customer demand, including follow-up with Production, Quality, Engineering, Supply Chain, and outside vendors.
  • Develop, maintain, and communicate project plans, status trackers, and milestone updates to support successful execution of SpaceX programs.
  • Coordinate internally to ensure customer specifications, schedule requirements, and priority changes are understood and acted upon across the business.
  • Monitor production flow and identify bottlenecks, shortages, or schedule risks; escalate issues quickly and help drive resolution plans.
  • Support engineering and operational project work by coordinating tasks, gathering updates, documenting progress, and helping keep projects on schedule.
  • Partner with Quality to coordinate customer inspections, documentation needs, and readiness for shipment in accordance with specifications.
  • Maintain accurate data in tracking systems and ERP tools, ensuring status, commitments, and action items are current and visible to stakeholders.
  • Prepare reports, summaries, and customer-facing updates related to schedules, part movement, open actions, and program performance.
  • Collaborate with the manufacturing team to support process execution, troubleshoot issues affecting delivery, and help balance customer expectations with internal capabilities.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

Experience, Education and Qualifications:
