About the Role:

The Manufacturing Engineer – Automation & Assembly, will have responsibility for Automation and Assembly initiatives and processes serving multiple areas of the U.S Division. The ideal candidate applies engineering expertise to problem solving manufacturing issues and delivering automation systems and processes designed to create greater efficiencies for the manufacturing environment. This individual will operate within the Automation Team, and must be able to navigate multiple projects in multiple plants with a can-do high energy attitude.

Key Responsibilities

As a Plant Manufacturing Engineer - Automation & Assembly, you will be responsible to:

  • Innovate plans to automate existing assembly and component processes
  • Develop and implement robotic and vision guided robotic automation projects
  • Support Operations and Trades with plant automation project implementation - Note, some weekend / after-hours work will be required during installation and debug.
  • Develop and implement continuous improvement and cost savings
  • Lead and support in the development, specification, validation, and installation of new automation equipment and retools in assigned areas
  • Utilize project management skills to plan and execute assigned projects; manage tooling budget as required
  • Understand & lead safety/ergonomic requirements and reviews of new automation
  • Communicate and collaborate with all stakeholders: Engineering, Trades and Operations
  • PFMEA Development and Support
  • Risk Assessment development and support
  • Support plant quality and safety audits and supporting documentation
Qualifications
  • 2 years’ previous experience with Automation and Assembly equipment applications
  • Fanuc Robotic programing and application preferred
  • Working knowledge of assembly manufacturing processes including pressing, fastening, fixturing, vision systems, data collection and tool design
  • Working knowledge of basic pneumatics, hydraulics, and electrical controls
  • Knowledge and interest in process automation and robotics
  • High level of analytical skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Oral and written communication skills
  • Cad and computer skills (SolidWorks, AutoCad, MS-Office suite)
  • Knowledge of Problem-Solving Techniques (ie: Fast-X, Shainin, Six Sigma)
Education Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering
