What is a no experience copywriting job?

A No Experience Copywriting job is an entry-level role that involves writing marketing or promotional content without requiring prior professional experience. Employers typically look for strong writing skills, creativity, and an understanding of basic grammar. Many beginners start with freelance projects, internships, or content mills to gain experience. Online courses and practice can also help build a portfolio to secure better-paying opportunities.

What are typical assignments or projects for no experience copywriting?

Entry-level copywriters with no prior experience are often assigned tasks such as writing social media posts, blog introductions, product descriptions, or assisting with email campaigns under the guidance of more experienced team members. These projects help new hires develop their writing style, learn industry best practices, and become familiar with the brand voice. You can expect frequent feedback and opportunities to revise content, which accelerates skill growth. Most teams also encourage collaboration, so you may work with designers, marketers, or editors to learn how great copy fits into larger campaigns.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed for no experience copywriting?

To thrive in a No Experience Copywriting role, you need strong writing skills, attention to detail, and a willingness to learn, typically supported by a good command of grammar and creativity. Familiarity with basic word processing software, online content management systems, and digital research tools is often expected, though formal certifications are not usually required. Adaptability, openness to feedback, and a proactive attitude towards self-improvement make candidates stand out. These skills help new copywriters quickly learn the trade and deliver effective messaging even as they build their professional portfolio.

Can I start no experience copywriting?

Yes, entry-level copywriting jobs often do not require prior experience and focus on strong writing skills, creativity, and the ability to learn quickly. Many employers provide training or onboarding, and building a portfolio or taking online courses can improve your chances of starting in this field.

Job description

DCG ONE is one of the largest privately held marketing service providers in the country. Based in Seattle, with locations in NYC and Maryland, we help companies deliver their brand worldwide through creative, print, and fulfillment services.
ABOUT THE ROLE
The Copywriter & Content Strategist II writes and organizes the content behind customer experiences for our clients and their brands. This integrated role pairs strong writing with clear content organization, developing content frameworks, messaging hierarchies, and messaging architecture, then writing the copy that brings them to life. Writing and content strategy are equally weighted; this role does both, not one in service of the other.
The Copywriter & Content Strategist II collaborates with designers, strategists, and project managers, adapts tone for diverse audiences and channels, and is responsible for the clarity, structure, and effectiveness of content across touchpoints.
If you enjoy turning complex ideas into engaging stories, building thoughtful content strategies, and collaborating with creative teams to bring great work to life, we'd like to invite you to apply!
BENEFITS
  • Paid Time Off
  • Medical, Dental, Vision
  • Life/AD&D Insurance
  • 401(k) with matching
  • Accident Insurance
  • FSA, HSA
  • 9 Paid Holidays
  • Monthly Cookie Days!

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Writing & Craft: Writes clear, engaging copy for websites, digital experiences, campaigns, brand messaging, and scripts-adapting tone and style for different audiences, channels, and formats.
  • Content Strategy & Structure: Develops content frameworks, messaging hierarchies, and content hierarchy that define how storytelling elements are prioritized, structured, and expressed across an experience.
  • Concept Development: Contributes to creative campaign concepts and ideation that deliver on established strategies, proactively proposing ideas and anticipating content needs.
  • Messaging Architecture: Builds and maintains messaging matrices and frameworks that keep content consistent and aligned with strategy across an experience and touchpoints.
  • Machine-Readable Content: Structures and writes content so it's usable by both people and AI systems-clear hierarchy, consistent labeling, and well-formed language that holds up when read by machines as well as humans.
  • Brand Voice: Develops and advocates for brand voice and tone, writing to the editorial standards defined in brand guidelines.
  • Discovery & Insights: Interviews stakeholders and reviews content audits and audience data to inform content strategy and reorganization.
  • Client Engagement: Leads client-facing content sessions, presents strategies and copy, and incorporates feedback from creative reviews to refine work.
  • Industry Awareness: Stays current with trends in content strategy, copywriting, and digital experience.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • 4-6 years of professional experience in content strategy and copywriting for digital experiences, including both short- and long-form copy.
  • Portfolio that demonstrates two things, both required: (1) strong writing craft across web, brand, and campaign; and (2) structured content thinking-content frameworks, hierarchies, or messaging architecture. Writing alone, or strategically alone, will not meet the bar.
  • Experience developing content for websites and campaigns across digital and print.
  • Experience reviewing content audits and audience data to inform content strategy.
  • Experience interviewing stakeholders and presenting to clients preferred.
  • Familiarity with structuring content for AI and machine readability (e.g., content that can be reliably interpreted, validated, or reused by AI tools) preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in journalism, English, communications, marketing, or related field preferred.
  • Online portfolio of work.
