THE ROLE  

E Ink is seeking a creative engineer or scientist to join an innovative team developing imaging and display technologies for next-generation electrophoretic display systems. In this role, you will contribute to the development and deployment of technologies that enhance the performance, image quality, and user experience of reflective color displays. Working in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment, you will apply expertise in color science, imaging science, and optics to solve complex technical challenges and enable the successful adoption of new products and capabilities by customers and internal teams. The ideal candidate is a hands-on problem solver who enjoys combining experimental investigation, data analysis, and algorithm development to create innovative solutions and drive continuous improvement in display technology. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES  

The essential duties and responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following: 

  • Support the deployment and optimization of display rendering and image quality solutions, including configuration and performance tuning to meet application requirements. 
  • Collaborate with engineering and product teams to develop technical demonstrations, evaluations, and customer-facing materials. 
  • Develop and maintain color management workflows, display characterization processes, validation methods, and release procedures. 
  • Implement and apply industry-standard methods for measuring, characterizing, and evaluating display performance. 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES  

This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities. 

QUALIFICATIONS  

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the essential f unctions of the position. The qualifications listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, education, experience, and abilities required.   • M.S./Ph.D. in a field such as Color Science, Imaging Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or Applied Mathematics. 
  • Color science: Human visual system models; understanding of colorimetry, color measurement, the physics of color formation, gamut mapping, color management, and color calibration methods. 
  • Image processing: Digital image processing algorithms, especially in areas such as spatial- and frequency-domain image analysis, noise analysis, system modeling, halftoning, anti-aliasing, and computational geometry. 
  • Software/programming languages: Proficiency in Python is required, with experience using AI coding tools. Experience with MATLAB is preferred, and experience with C++ and/or Julia is a plus. 
  • Self-motivated to pursue work in imaging, with an appreciation for art and design and a strong command of technical writing. 
  • Experience with automated data acquisition, electronic devices, and laboratory equipment such as oscilloscopes, power supplies, function generators, Arduinos, and DAQs is preferred. 

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS 

The anticipated annual base salary range for this position is $110,000 - $140,000 not including variable pay. The final offer will be based on factors including, but not limited to, the candidate's experience, education, skills, and qualifications. 

 In addition to a competitive base salary, E Ink offers a comprehensive benefits package that includes medical, dental, and vision insurance; life and disability coverage; paid time off; and a 401(k) retirement savings plan. Additionally, the position is eligible for our bonus program.
