Accounting Specialist

Location: Roswell GA

Reports To: Accounting Manager

Position Summary

McCalla Raymer Leibert Pierce, LLP (MRLP) is seeking a detail-oriented and dependable

Accounting Specialist to join our Accounting Department. This role is responsible for the

daily processing and application of incoming funds, preparation of bank deposits, and

accurate posting of cash receipts to client and internal accounting systems.

The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational skills, a high degree of accuracy, and

the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced professional services environment.

This is a fully in-office position requiring regular handling of physical checks and deposit

processing equipment.

This position is an excellent opportunity for bank tellers and banking professionals seeking to transition into an accounting-focused career while leveraging their experience with financial transactions, balancing, reconciliation, and accuracy-driven work.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Process and apply daily cash receipts, wire transfers, ACH payments.
  • Prepare and scan daily check deposits using onsite remote deposit scanners.
  • Ensure funds are deposited into the appropriate firm and client bank accounts.
  • Reconcile daily deposit activity to bank records and internal accounting systems.
  • Research and resolve unapplied or misapplied cash transactions.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and audit trails for all deposit activities.
  • Review payment remittance information and ensure proper allocation of funds.
  • Assist with daily cash balancing and reconciliation processes.
  • Monitor bank activity and report discrepancies to management.
  • Coordinate with legal teams, clients, vendors, and internal departments regarding payment inquiries.
  • Support month-end and year-end closing activities related to cash receipts and reconciliations.
  • Assist with special projects and other accounting duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Associate's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
  • Equivalent combination of education and relevant experience will be considered.
  • Experience 1-3 years of accounting, accounts receivable, cash application, banking, or related experience preferred.
  • Experience with remote deposit scanners and electronic banking platforms is a plus.
  • Experience in a law firm, professional services organization, or high-volume transaction environment preferred.
