Summary of Position
Teach in a classroom and virtual setting for all assigned classes and laboratory activities in a professional manner.
Adjunct (part-time), semester-based employment with compensation based on course load and institutional pay schedule.
Education and Experience
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field from a nationally, regionally, or identified at the state level accredited institution of higher education is required.
Master's degree including 18 graduate hours identified at the state level accredited institution of higher education in Computer Science or Systems, or Information Technology, or related with course work that aligns with Computer Science courses listed in the CTC catalog, preferred.
Wage-earning work experience related to the competencies or learning outcomes of various CTC Computer Science courses is required. This experience must be exclusive of teaching.
Knowledge Skills and Ability
  • Must possess a demonstrated knowledge in the subject matter being taught and the ability to communicate with students in a clear manner and to author tests and lesson plans.
  • Must possess the ability to provide academic and vocational guidance to students as needed.
  • Demonstrated written and oral communications skills and extensive Internet skills
  • Demonstrated proficiency in one or more of the following is required:
    • Programming skills and use of Visual Studio .NET, Visual Basic, HTML and CSS, Python, C++, C#, and JAVA
    • Information Technology Security to include cybersecurity, or ethical hacking, or IT security auditing.
    • Network/Systems Administration to include server and client implementation and maintenance and server
    • Cloud/Virtual services

Essential Functions
• Assist in recruiting activities that will encourage students to enroll in departmental courses.
• Safeguard and help maintain departmental equipment and college property.
• Maintain and submit timely and accurate records of attendance, grades, and student progress in compliance with college policies as required by the Central Texas College institution and department by specified due date(s).
• Utilize instructional technology and the learning management system (LMS) for course delivery and communication.
• Communicate regularly with students regarding course expectations, progress, and resources.
• Other duties as assigned by supervisor/department chair.
