Description
In this technical role, you will be at the center of a silicon design group, with a critical impact on radio architecture, radio system performance, system integration and physical layer algorithms development for innovative wireless communication systems. You will develop system model of RF/analog design, radio chain modeling, coordinated radio interaction models, multifaceted behavior models and assess associate impairments.
You will evaluate radio performance on various application scenario, as well as working on architecting various calibration and correction methods for radio impairments. The role requires collaboration with HW digital designers and architects, products, radio, analog designers, and SW/FW engineers, to define and specify the wireless systems. You will get to work with digital designers to realize different physical and/or radio compensation algorithms, and with firmware designers to realize different physical/radio compensation algorithms with high efficiency software implementation. And to bring up, test, characterize, tune up, and optimize real silicon in lab to the production qualities.","responsibilities":"In this role, core responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Design radio models for the wireless communication system, RF/circuits impairments.
Design method/algorithm to alleviate those impairments by calibration, pre-compensation, cancellation, and/or pre-distortion techniques.
Evaluate radio performance in different scenarios by quantitative analysis and link simulation.
Work with radio designers to come up with state-of-art radio architecture.
Collaborate with digital designers to realize PHY/radio algorithms with power and area efficient digital implementations.
Join forces with firmware designers to realize calibration with high efficiency software implementation together with hardware acceleration.
Preferred Qualifications
MSEE/PhD with relevant experience.
Understanding of communication theory, information theory, & signal processing related algorithms design.
Analytical capability to develop the outstanding solution in terms of performance, power and area for the meaningful issues of physical layer design.
Knowledge in existing wireless communication protocols: Cellular technologies (5G-NR and prior iteration), WiFi (802.11) or Bluetooth/BLE.
Circuit design experience or knowledge.
Minimum Qualifications
Minimum requirement of a bachelors degree
Understanding of RF and analog components/modules composited of wireless communication systems, the possible impairments from those components, and the corresponding calibration and impairment reduction methods/algorithms.
Proven track record of RF calibration algorithm for RF impairments.
Experience with MATLAB, Python and/or C/C++ for algorithm development, modeling, and simulation.
Hands-on experience on lab testing & characterization, such as spectrum analyzer, signal generator, signal analyzer, power meter, etc.
Pay & Benefits
At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $129,300 and $225,300, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple's discretionary employee stock programs.
