As a valued Litigation Paralegal at Harrell Law Firm, your role is essential to the success of our litigation process, the preparedness of our attorneys, and the experience of our clients. This document outlines the core responsibilities of your position and the key performance indicators (KPIs) we will use as part of our trimester performance conversations.

Core Responsibilities

  • Client Communication: Maintain consistent, professional, and compassionate communication with clients throughout the litigation process.
  • Case Management: Organize and maintain all aspects of case files โ€” from pleadings and discovery to trial prep and post-trial closure.
  • Court Filings: Manage filings across state and federal courts using eCourts NJ, PACER, JEDS, ECF, and related platforms, ensuring timely and accurate submissions.
  • Discovery & Motion Practice: Draft, finalize, and file discovery responses, subpoenas, motions, and other litigation-related documents.
  • Trial Preparation: Partner with the assigned attorney to prepare witness binders, exhibits, and trial materials; coordinate all logistics for hearings and trials.
  • Calendar Oversight: Ensure all litigation events, deadlines, and appointments are reflected on the calendar in accordance with the firmโ€™s calendar management policy.
  • Legal Research & Investigation: Assist with factual development, witness interviews, and related legal research as needed.


Requirements:

Preferred Skills & Qualifications:

  • Education: Associateโ€™s or bachelorโ€™s degree in Paralegal Studies, or Paralegal Certificate from an accredited program.
  • Experience: 2+ years of litigation paralegal experience in personal injury law preferred.
  • Court Platform Expertise: Familiarity with online platforms such as eCourts NJ, JEDS, PACER, and ECF for state and federal filings is strongly preferred.
  • Organizational Skills: Strong ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Communication: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a client-first mindset.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in legal case management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Bilingual (Preferred): Proficiency in Spanish or another language is a plus but not required.
