Job description

Position: Buyer
Location: Frankfort KY (Onsite)
JOB SUMMARY:
This role is responsible for conducting day to day SCM activities. Perform various analytical functions, which primarily involve ensuring a smooth material flow, responding to bottlenecks or problem areas with proposed solutions, while guaranteeing our quality standards are maintained.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES and/or RESPONSIBILITIES:
The essential functions of the job include, but not limited to the following:
1. Maintain inventory at optimal levels and meet production schedules.
2. Manage MRP and ERP to forecast demand, ensure materials availability, and plan production schedules.
3. Support with contracts with suppliers to secure advantageous terms, including pricing, delivery schedules, and quality standards per Nitto guidelines.
4. Report identified market trends and supplier performance risks to the Supervisor to mitigate disruptions and present opportunities for cost savings and supply chain improvements efficiencies.
5. Provide teamwork with cross-functional teams, including production, quality assurance, and engineering, to ensure material specifications are met.
6. Adhere to SCM policies and procedures to align with Nitto Group standards.
Buyer Responsibilities:
§ Purchasing: Place orders and manage supplier relationships.
§ Inventory Management: Maintain inventory levels, ensuring timely availability of materials.
§ Risk Management: Assess supply chain risks and report them.
§ Supplier Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers.
§ Product Life Cycle: Manage materials throughout the product life cycle.
Planner Responsibilities:
§ Materials Requirements Planning (MRP): Confirm forecast demand, materials availability, and plan production schedules meet the necessary targets.
§ Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP): Verify systems in place to plan and allocate resources efficiently to support Production are effective.
§ Advanced Planning (APQP): Participate in collaboration activities cross-functionally on design and feasibility review, pre-production planning and trials, production part approval process, and production launch.

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE, SKILLS and/or ABILITIES:
• Bachelor's Degree in a technical field preferred
• 3-5 Years Extensive experience in a manufacturing environment
• Industry Certification such as the Advancing Productivity, Innovation and Competitive Success (APICS), Certification in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM), or Supply Chain Management (SCM) credentials is preferred.
• General knowledge of the scheduling process and material planning requirements
• Good understanding of production operations, Quality System Procedure and SOP's, and a good understanding of continuous improvement/LEAN methods.
• Practical experience in production planning, production materials, forecasting, inventory management, Supplier relationship management, and Risk management is essential.
• Strong organizational/prioritization skills
• Good analytical/problem solving skills
• Ability to read and comprehend complex analytical instructions, correspondence, and memos. Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other various personnel in the organization.
COMPUTER SKILLS:
• Advanced knowledge in Microsoft Office 365
• Proficient in MRP/ERP tools

Benefits:

PTO Accrual = 8 hrs. after 3 mos., 8 hrs. after 6 mos., 8 hrs. each month thereafter, and an add'l 40 hrs. on anniversary date (total first year = 104 hours, which is slightly negotiable).
Employee contribution towards medical premiums is approximately 12% (of premium) for employee (single) coverage only
