What You Will Do

The Buyer position is a key role within our strategic plan for global Supply Chain management. Excellent organizational skills, ability to balance short term priorities and analytical skills are a necessity.  Key objectives will be achieving/improving/exceeding targeted customer service levels, balancing inventory levels and targets, and managing supply and demand within the supply chain in support of a mixed-mode manufacturing operation using established Purchasing Policies and Procedures.  Execute and support export/import and customs compliance control policies, procedures and resources through training programs, formal and informal communication and process improvements.

  • Analyze Bills of Material, routings, and demand.  Work within mainframe environment to enter purchase orders, make inquiries/ decisions regarding inventory, historical records, etc.

  • Proactive approach to maintaining a high level of service to internal and external customers. 

  • React to the increase variation from forecast and/or customer demand to take the appropriate actions within the supply chain.

  • Ensure on time delivery of purchases and communicate/ resolve quality issues and other supplier performance problems.

  • Maintain Master Supplier Files, including Supplier Scorecards for "A" level suppliers.

  • Maximize inventory turns and minimize inventory carrying cost while maintaining customer expectations. 

  • Provide Customer Service with valid available to promise dates.

  • Support ERP projects for data clean up, implementation, and sustainment.

  • Interact with the Production Team and Planners to ensure that production schedules can be executed in the planned time frame regarding capacity and material availability.

  • As necessary, manage change within time fences, (due to emergency production concerns, expedites, equipment, problems, etc.)

  • May plan requirements for assigned area of responsibility, in keeping with company goals, policies and procedures.

  • Special Projects centered around data integrity and continuous improvements as determined by manager.

What You Bring

Core Qualifications

  • Four-year college degree or minimum of 3 years of related business experience

  • Demonstrate commitment to working with TQM, ISO 9000, and GMPs

  • Intermediate to advanced PC skills (spreadsheets, word processing)

  • Knowledge of current purchasing, inventory/production control, and manufacturing practices

  • Knowledge and understanding of supply chain concepts and applications

  • Effective negotiation skills

  • Analytical mindset with strong business acumen

  • Problem-solving aptitude with attention to detail

  • Ability to organize and prioritize work effectively

  • Ability to work independently under pressure and adapt quickly to changing priorities

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • C.P.M. or APICS certification

  • Oracle experience

  • Customer service interface experience

Compensation & Benefits

The expected salary range for this position is $65,000-$75,000/annually. Actual compensation will be determined based on experience, skills, qualifications, and geographic location.
