Job description

The Sales Trainee is an entry level position responsible for completing a rigorous training program in preparation for assuming an earthmoving sales territory.  Sales Trainees must be able to perform independently under close supervision. Extensive on the job training, classroom instruction, and e-learning must be successfully completed to remain in the Sales Training Program.  The Sales Trainee will demonstrate initiative, sense of urgency, commitment to teamwork, enthusiasm for customer service, and dedication to finding solutions in an efficient manner.  The Sales Trainee must be willing to relocate anywhere in the Thompson Tractor territory when a position becomes available.  A valid driver’s license is a requirement for this position.

Essential Responsibilities & Expectations

  • Complete the web-based Caterpillar Foundational Sales Certification
  • Attend assigned instructor led Service Training courses
  • Work in various service departments including the shop and field service
  • Work on the parts counter and in the warehouse
  • Develop a complete knowledge of the Caterpillar product line and
  • Assist in collection of past due invoices
  • Monitor and report product performance and competitive activity
  • Provide liaison support between customer, TTCO, and our vendors
  • Establish and maintain personal working relationships with coworkers
  • Negotiate mutually agreeable settlements on customer complaints

Qualifications
Education
High school diploma or the equivalent required. College degree preferred. 
 
Experience
Previous sales and a working knowledge of the earthmoving industry is preferred. Experience using personal computers and basic typing skills are required. Candidates must possess the ability to quickly acquire the following required skills and competencies
