Job description

The Night Shift Nurse (RN/LPN) provides overnight nursing care and supervision for residents in our assisted living community. This role ensures resident safety, medication administration, clinical monitoring, and prompt response to overnight concerns while supporting a calm, secure nighttime environment.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Resident Care

  • Administer medications and treatments according to physician orders and state assisted living regulations

  • Monitor residents’ condition overnight and respond to changes in health status

  • Provide nursing interventions and emergency response as needed

  • Ensure resident comfort, safety, and dignity during overnight hours

Clinical Oversight

  • Oversee caregivers or med techs on night shift, as applicable

  • Ensure accurate and timely documentation of medications, treatments, and nurse notes

  • Monitor infection control and safety practices during the shift

Communication & Coordination

  • Communicate critical updates to the Director of Nursing or on‑call leadership

  • Provide clear shift handoff reporting to day shift nursing staff

  • Notify families and providers per policy when overnight changes occur

Regulatory Compliance

  • Maintain compliance with state assisted living regulations and facility policies

  • Uphold resident rights, confidentiality, and safety standards at all times

  • Assist with incident reporting and follow‑up documentation

Qualifications
  • Current RN or LPN license in good standing

  • Experience in assisted living, long‑term care, or healthcare preferred

  • Strong assessment and independent decision‑making skills

  • Calm, reliable, and self‑directed

  • Ability to pass background check and pre‑employment screening

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and assist residents as needed

  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds

  • Ability to respond quickly to overnight medical or safety concerns

Schedule
