Night Shift Remote Risk Analyst information

What is a night shift remote risk analyst?

Night Shift Remote Risk Analysts are professionals who assess and monitor risks for organizations during overnight hours while working from a remote location. Their main responsibilities typically include analyzing transactions or activities for potential fraud, compliance issues, or security threats, and responding to incidents that occur outside of regular business hours. These analysts use specialized software and data analysis techniques to identify unusual patterns or behaviors that could indicate risk. Working remotely allows them to provide continuous risk coverage without being physically present in an office. This role is crucial for companies that operate globally or need 24/7 risk management.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a night shift remote risk analyst?

To thrive as a Night Shift Remote Risk Analyst, you need strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a background in finance, data analysis, or a related field, often supported by a relevant degree. Familiarity with risk management software, data visualization tools, and proficiency in Microsoft Excel or SQL are typically required, along with certifications like FRM or CFA being advantageous. Excellent problem-solving abilities, self-motivation, and effective communication are crucial soft skills for working independently and reporting findings clearly during off-hours. These competencies ensure timely identification and mitigation of risks to protect the organization, even when working remotely and outside regular business hours.

What is the difference between Night Shift Remote Risk Analyst vs Night Shift Remote Underwriter?

AspectNight Shift Remote Risk AnalystNight Shift Remote Underwriter

Both roles operate remotely during night shifts and require analytical skills, but Risk Analysts focus on assessing risk data, while Underwriters evaluate and approve insurance applications. Understanding these differences helps job seekers find the best fit for their skills and career goals.

What are some common challenges faced by night shift remote risk analysts and how can they be managed?

Night Shift Remote Risk Analysts often encounter unique challenges such as maintaining alertness during overnight hours and effectively communicating with daytime colleagues. Managing circadian rhythm disruptions requires developing healthy sleep habits and utilizing scheduled breaks to stay focused. Additionally, working remotely may lead to feelings of isolation, so proactively engaging in virtual team meetings and regular check-ins can help maintain strong collaboration and ensure alignment on risk mitigation strategies.

Job description

About Daylight

Daylight is building a decentralized electric utility. We're building technology that enables homes to generate, store, and share energy with their neighbors, turning passive consumers into active participants in a smarter, more sustainable grid.

Our team brings together energy and crypto veterans who believe in a future where communities power themselves. Backed by a16z, Framework, and other industry-leading investors, we're building the infrastructure to make that vision a reality. Learn more at www.godaylight.com

The Role

In this role at Daylight, you'll play a critical role in executing our Virtual Power Plant (VPP) and demand response program participation across the country. You'll develop strategies to drive revenue growth, optimize asset performance, and collaborate with the development team to build an internal platform that integrates revenue stacking, analytics, and operational efficiencies.

We're an early-stage startup, so this role goes beyond traditional asset optimization. You'll support functions related to energy trading, pricing strategies, and risk management while ensuring compliance with program requirements and internal risk metrics. You'll also develop partnerships and build operational capabilities to enhance commercial performance.

This role is ideal for someone passionate about energy markets and technology who thrives in a fast-paced environment. You'll shape our analytics platform, integrate key data sources, and develop risk management frameworks-all while having opportunities to grow into a leadership position as we scale.

This role is remote with the New York City metro area preferred. Travel to New York City is required for meetings and team building events.ย

Responsibilities
  • Strategic Leadership
    • Assist in the execution of VPP and demand response program participation across the country.
    • Develop strategies aligned with the company's business goals and revenue objectives.
    • Assist the development team in building an internal VPP scheduling platform that integrates revenue stacking, operational constraints, and analytics to maximize asset value.
    • Monitor market trends, regulatory developments, and competitive dynamics to identify business opportunities.
  • Asset Optimization
    • Oversee market activities, including scheduling and dispatch, pricing strategies, and risk management, to optimize asset performance.
    • Build operational capabilities to manage obligations while ensuring BESS warranties, degradation targets, and market participation requirements are met.
    • Develop partnerships with optimization and scheduling platforms to enhance commercial operations.
  • Market Analytics & Strategy
    • Identify and integrate data sources for energy market forecasting, congestion analysis, and revenue modeling.
    • Maintain expertise in ISO/RTO market structures, energy trading strategies, and risk-adjusted returns for contracted and merchant revenue scenarios.
    • Assess the asset pipeline by market, development timeline, and commercial readiness, developing a roadmap for revenue optimization.
What we're looking for| Must Haves
  • Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Finance, Economics, Engineering, or a related field (advanced degree preferred).
  • 2+ years of experience in energy market analytics, trading, commercial operations, or asset optimization.
  • Expertise in power markets, risk management, and regulatory requirements (experience with CAISO, NYISO, PJM, and ERCOT is a plus).
  • Understanding of state-level programs (e.g., CA DSGS, MA Connected Solutions, MA Clean Peak Standard, etc.).
  • Self-motivated with strong leadership skills and the ability to manage cross-functional teams.
  • A results-oriented individual with a proven ability to prioritize tasks, manage their workload effectively, and deliver high-quality work with minimal supervision.
  • Deep knowledge of energy storage optimization, power marketing, revenue forecasting, and market participation strategies.
  • Strong data analytics and modeling experience to support decision-making and risk analysis.
What we offer
  • Competitive salary and equity package
  • Opportunity to shape a category-defining product from the ground up
  • Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance
  • Wellhub membership
  • Monthly wellness stipend
