Position SummaryThe Toolmaker manufactures and repairs fixtures, jigs, cutting tools and gauges to support gear and gearbox manufacturing. Essential FunctionsWork from blueprints, sketches and specifications, to determine materials required, method and machinery to be used to fabricate tools.Compute dimensions, plans layout and determine assembly method and sequence of operations.Set up and operate manual and CNC machine tools such as lathes, milling machines and grinders to machine tools.Inspect and verify conformance of machined tools to drawings and specifications.Able to use conversational programming to create CNC equipment programs.Other activities, duties or responsibilities may change at any time with or without notice. Experience and EducationA minimum of 5 years of toolmaking work experience.High school diploma or equivalent required.Degree/certificate from vocational school or college program is a plus, but extensive experience may substitute for education. Competencies and SkillsAnalyticalProblem-solverTeamworkAdaptabilityDependabilityInitiativeInnovative Supervisory ResponsibilityThis position has no supervisory responsibilities. Physical DemandsThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
