Job description

Location: Bedminster, NJ Salary: $60.00 USD Hourly - $65.00 USD Hourly Description:
Job Title: Network Engineer III
Job Duties:
Responsible for advanced configuration and operating system upgrades of carrier-class Cisco, Juniper, and Nokia equipment in a complex, multivendor nationwide data network.
Work on virtualization technologies in the Pacific and North Central Markets.
Assist with and perform implementation responsibilities for one or more COINs.
Collaborate with Implementation and Engineering teams to achieve strategic technology goals and transition from VXLAN to the eNSE platform.
Engineer IP networking build projects and work closely with Capacity Planning, Design, and Operations teams.
Responsibilities:
Work 3rd shift, 8-hour, 5-day work weeks (Monday-Friday mornings).
Plan, prioritize, and schedule maintenance window changes with minimal supervision during the daytime and implement these changes during scheduled maintenance windows.
Configure routers, switches, and related network equipment (Cisco CRS, NCS, ASR 9K, ISR 3945, Nexus 3K, 7K, 9K, Juniper MX-480, MX-960).
Implement configuration changes for Intelligent Edge Networks, including SAP eNSE fabric, Access eNSE fabric, EPC element migration to eNSE, ISP peering routers, VCP Edge connectivity, eNSE connectivity to MSE and UT.
Leverage automation tools (Python, NSO, DCNM, VTS, Pronghorn, Nuage) for project completion.
Perform transport circuit turn-up and troubleshooting.
Work remotely with local operation team members throughout the United States to deploy and troubleshoot newly installed racked routers and switches.
Engineer network configuration for the onboarding of private cloud tenants.
Perform BAU maintenance work such as ACL updates and software upgrades on border leafs, access leafs, and spines on the eNSE fabric.
Utilize network monitoring tools to ensure network equipment functions according to company standards before and after changes.
Use network configuration compare tools (Ultracompare, Diff Checker, Notepad++).
Review MOPs and automated dry-run outputs with the engineering team before scheduled changes.
Attend daytime MOP review and team/project sync meetings.
Assist team members in an overwatch role during cutovers, migrations, and upgrades.
Engage in intra and interdepartmental communication to plan, schedule, prioritize, and prepare for maintenance window activities.
Enter all night changes into the change management database "Kirke" and ensure all notifications are approved prior to maintenance window activities.
Work closely with local onsite Network Assurance team to validate no customer impacts were sustained.
Must-Have Skills:
Bachelor's degree or four or more years of work experience.
Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including nights and occasional weekends.
Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and a desire to excel.
Extensive knowledge of Layer 1 troubleshooting for copper and fiber cabling (Cat5/6, SC, LC, FC, MPO).
Expert comprehension of CLI commands for Nokia 7750/7706/7250, Cisco 55A1, 5504, 5508, 9508, CRS-16, Nexus 3k/5k/7K/9K (IOS, XE, XR, NX-OS).
Experience with IP Layer 1-3 for Edge Networks and strong knowledge of MPLS.
Hands-on experience with network virtualization and implementing updates on working devices.
Ability to follow and implement detailed engineering design documents.
Strong communication skills for email and phone interactions.
Knowledgeable in Layer 1 remote connectivity to network devices via console and Ethernet.
Ability to work closely with others, manage workload, and schedule tasks with other teams.
Functional knowledge of TCP/IP (IPv4 and IPv6).
Administrative skills to track and update emails, tickets, projects, and work logs.
Knowledge of spine and leaf fabric networking.
Working knowledge of VXLAN and BGP.
Attention to detail and thoroughness in all aspects of work.
Desired Skills:
Bachelor's degree.
CCNA or CCNP certifications.
Hands-on experience with Nokia SR-OS devices.
Experience with virtualization technology in a corporate environment.
Knowledge of Cloud Computing (VMWare, Openstack, AWS, Azure).
Experience with data center and cloud technologies (Linux OS, VMware, Open-Stack, Ansible, Chef/Puppet, Docker).
Five or more years of experience with large, complex data networks.
Experience with data networking gear and troubleshooting (TCP/IP, BGP, MP-BGP, OSPF, MPLS, IPv4, IPv6, L2VPN, L3VPN, SIP).
Experience with planning and implementing multiple technical projects.
Good understanding of 3G and 4G call flow.
Education/Certifications:
Bachelor's degree or four or more years of relevant work experience.
