Job Overview

We are looking for a Network Engineer on an effort supporting our Federal Government Client in Huntsville, AL. The ideal candidate will provide technical engineering support for our large federal government agency’s highly complex network infrastructure environment to include multiple enclaves comprising various classification levels.

Network engineering support includes all engineering activities required to support the standard information technology lifecycle. The ideal candidate will provide design and engineering activities in support of new network solutions for a multi-enclave enterprise network environment which encompasses various technology. In addition, the candidate will provide network support on an as needed basis to resolve networking issues.
This position supports our customer Tuesday - Saturday, during the hours of 11pm - 730am CDT.


Core Responsibilities
  • Monitor and analyze enterprise networks and network devices such as switches, routers, firewalls, load balancers encryptors, etc.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to the Government, Project Lead, and other Network Analyst in support of monitoring and managing the customer networks.
  • Review the work of the other contractor personnel based on government standards and industry best practice and provide feedback and recommendations through the Project Lead
  • Maintain awareness of trends and best practices related to networks, technology and IT-related topics and provide recommendations to the Project Lead and Government on possible improvements or changes to customer systems and processes.
  • Provide high-quality and professional customer service in all interactions.
  • Use the Enterprise Network Monitoring Platform to analyze and provide data and documentation related to the network performance of any or all network components.
  • Serve as an point of contact for customer to resolve network issues as they are reported via ticketing system.
  • Provide excellent and professional customer service in all interactions.

Requirements
  • Active Top Secret Clearance with the ability to obtain an SCI
  • Minimum of 3+ years of networking experience with specialization in networking technologies, specifically with Cisco switches and routers and resolving LAN/WAN issues
  • Basic knowledge of IP, OSPF, BGP, EIGRP, MPLS, firewalls and encryption technologies
  • Working knowledge of network management tools, such as Riverbed, Wireshark, Micro Focus Network Automation, etc.
  • Working knowledge of web applications, web servers, application load balancers and storage systems.
  • Must have good knowledge of general security tools and methodologies such as firewalls, (IDS)/IPS and access control lists.

Preferred Additional Skills and Qualifications
  • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) Enterprise Core and Infrastructure certification or higher.
  • Associates of Science (A.S.) degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related area
  • Experience in network engineering within the federal intelligence community
