Job description

The purpose of this position is to maintain the facility and grounds in a manner consistent with the requirements of the facility manager, company, U.S.D.A. and any local, state or federal requirements.
Essential Position Responsibilities
Removes empty ingredient bags and other trash from the warehouse. Sweeps warehouse floor, including areas between rows of pallets and equipment racks. Maintains and cleans work areas on and around the warehouse ramp. Maintains a clean work area around dumpsters, boneyard, removing buildup from the edges of the concrete. Take bin measurements daily or as needed.
Keeps the yard, driveways and grounds neat and orderly, including picking up trash, cutting weeds and filling tire ruts and holes. Sweeps and maintains the bin deck area, silo deck, distributor floors, and whirley-cleaner deck. Checks receiving scales for loose ingredients; sweep the scales and driveway approaches as necessary. Cleans the manlift, including the inside, top and area below the manlift on the first floor. Helps with housekeeping in other mill areas as needed.
Performs regular housekeeping tasks to minimize dust accumulation and spider webs from warehouse area, including equipment racks, walls and pallets, roof area, including baghouses, elevator legs and equipment, the bin deck area, including silo deck, cat-walks, distributor decks, and whirley-cleaner decks as needed throughout the shift.
Participates as a member of the Team. Participates in ongoing development, communication and implementation of team concepts, programs and policies; coordinates work to ensure B.E.S.T practices with all team members. Attends appropriate team meetings. As a member of the Team, fosters strong cohesiveness regarding all major issues; e.g., direction, annual plan, budget, policy changes, etc. Accepts responsibility to quickly identify any areas that lack cohesiveness, bringing them to the attention of the team leader and working with the team in a supportive manner to resolve issues and actively look for ways, and reinforces actions needed, to achieve synergy possible within the larger organization.
Simmons Operating systems principles and objectives: Is familiar with Simmons' established operating systems (e.g. quality, security, office environment, company policies); understands the responsibility to maintain familiarity with the systems and this position's role in support of these systems - including a consideration of the impact of individual actions on the systems and the responsibility to communicate concerns and improvement ideas.
Performs other duties as necessary in support of business objectives: This position description is intended to guide the activities of the Utility Services and is not intended to limit the thinking and creativity of the person to the work of this function nor is it intended that this describe all the work that may be required of the person in this position.
Physical Activities: Enters and locates information on a computer. Visually verifies information, often in small print. Must be able to lift and move up to 100 pounds from any level. Must be able to work in temperature extremes and in an outdoor environment, on feet for the entire shift. Must be able to work in a dusty environment. Will also be climbing ladders throughout the shift.
Travel: N/A
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Will use appropriate footwear, hearing protection and other protective equipment as needed or required.
Technical Experience: Must be able to pass a company issued forklift written and driving test if needed.
Industry Experience: Preference for poultry or food processing organization.
Minimum Education: N/A
Preferred Education: High School Diploma or GED. Forklift certification or ability to obtain certification.
