The Warehouse Supervisor oversees daily operations of the Distribution Center, including receiving, inventory management, and shipping. They work under the Operations Manager and supervise warehouse team members to ensure timely delivery of goods.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Environmental Health & Safety Management:
  • Leads by example and reinforces safety practices while enforcing Tenneco safety policies.
  • Investigates reports and communicates all accidents, injuries, and/or illness and near misses. Analyzes & systematically resolves the problem & prevents its recurrence.
  • Understands preventative measures and creates a safe and healthy environment by having the ability to identify potential emergency situations and reporting all incidents

Operation Management:
  • Plans, coordinates, and supervises the activities of team members to meet shipping schedules and to hold them accountable for their performance.
  • Supervises the team members in safety & standard operations, coordinating resources to manage shipping abnormalities promptly.
  • Assists the Operations Manager in problem resolution relating to shipping, standard operating procedures, safety, and quality.
  • Works on alternative shifts as required to provide additional support to the distribution center

Continuous Improvement:
  • Leads the team by applying continuous improvement tools to the warehouse area.
  • Champions the 5S process and ensures standards are achieved/maintained & continue to improve.
  • Serves on cross-functional teams as needed to support the distribution center's CI initiatives
  • Participates in root cause analysis to identify problems and recommend changes

Employee Development:
  • Plans & implements training of multiple skills for the team members. Provides timely and effective feedback to team members.
  • Communicates frequently, ensuring stability in your team. Promptly report issues to the Operations Manager & the HR department if necessary.
  • Develops supports and monitors activities that foster teamwork and engagement within the group.
  • Assists in training employees on distribution processes and equipment
  • Evaluates hourly associates and provides feedback regarding job performance and expectations in a timely manner

Skills & Experience:
  • Three years of experience in a supervisor role required
  • Prior multi-shift distribution center experience preferred
  • Understanding of lean production/shipping & 5S.
  • Intermediate computer skills including MS Office software.
  • Technical skills in logistics processes and methods to include flow, cost efficiencies, engineered standards, equipment, safety, and quality.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to prepare routine reports and correspondence.
  • Working knowledge of SAP and Manhattan a plus
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language
  • Ability to handle the pressure of deadlines, coupled with frequent interruptions
  • Ability to interface with all levels of the organization in a professional manner

Education:
  • Associate's degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; OR three years to five years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle or feel. The employee frequently is required to sit, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear. The employee is required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee may be exposed to heights up to 30 feet. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. The employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts and vehicles and can be exposed to extreme heat and extreme cold including climates consistent with outside weather conditions.
