Job description

Night Shift Packer

Shift: Night Shift 5pm-5am.

Purpose:

The Packer's primary purpose is to ensure skids are supplied to the production lines, as well as retrieving and packaging all finished goods from the line, performing the proper paperwork, and transporting finished goods to the warehouse.

Qualifications:

  • Internal certification in safe use of forklifts
  • Ability to use utility knife and common hand tools safely
  • Ability to read tape measure with decimal and fraction scale
  • Ability to use all front-end equipment such as stretch wrappers, skill saws, banders, tape measures, tape guns, utility knives, skill saws, and coil cradles.
  • Ability to use Microsoft Windows and KBM
  • Good verbal and written communication

Primary Functions:

  • Complete all reports and forms in a timely manner
  • Maintain acceptable 5S standards for the Packaging Area
  • Provide necessary support on the production line as directed by the Supervisor or Packaging Group Lead.
  • Retrieve skids and ensure they are properly staged for the production lines
  • Retrieve all material from production that is transferred to the packaging area
  • Check all dimensions of skids and coils
  • Make sure all material is properly weighed before transferring to warehouse
  • Properly band material and re-check
  • Use designated labels for coils and skids
  • Supply exterior protection as needed to skids and coils
  • Use stretch wrapper to cover exterior of coils
  • Communicate with the Dry End Group Lead for packaging requirements
  • Review production work orders for special instructions
  • Complete all required reports/forms correctly and in a timely manner including passing paperwork to shipping department when completed.
