Job description

The position of Lease Operator is responsible for oil and gas well operations, well testing, operating and maintaining field equipment and facilities, surveillance of general field operations and maintenance of various databases regarding production and operations.  


  • Actively supports Health, Environment, and Safety processes by accomplishing daily activities within applicable regulations and policies, carrying out duties in an environmentally conscious manner, following safe operating practices as described in the S&TB - Texas Region Safe Practice Manual, maintaining a safe working environment, and being prepared to respond to an environmental or safety event.
  • Operates, troubleshoots, repairs, and maintains oil and gas production equipment.
  • Perform duties (as detailed below) associated with oil and gas producing operations; including but not limited to plunger lift, rod pumping and flowing wells, and compressors.
  • Optimizing artificial lift systems.
  • Testing wells.
  • Acquires fluid level information.
  • Records keeping and data input.
  • Monitors computer control systems.
  • Tests safety devices.
  • Operates and monitors of SCADA.
  • Partners with other employees, and contractors to ensure that all equipment is operating at peak efficiency.
  • Utilizes SAP to create work orders for inventory and work planning/prioritization.
  • Assures all work performed adheres to Chevron's Operational Excellence standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • 1+ yrs. of Lease Operator experience required with experience starting/stopping compressors.
  • Must be willing to work a night shift.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of gas lift, ESP, and rod pump artificial lift types.
  • Familiarity with standard facilities (CTBs, SWDs, Satellites, CSs) and equipment.
  • Ability to periodically work a night shift based upon predetermined schedule.
  • Must live within 45-60 miles of the workplace and possess a valid driver's license.
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Must meet conditional job offer requirements.
