Job description


The Building People, LLC, has a position open for an experienced Senior Building Automation Specialist. BAS technicians support a building’s management, tenants, and systems by managing BAS equipment and technologies. A BAS technician’s primary duties include:

  • Monitoring BAS components for HVAC, plumbing, electricity, computer networking, lighting, and security.
  • Working with building managers, tenants, and visitors to provide a safe and comfortable experience inside the building.
  • Working with architects, engineers, contractors, and other professionals to maintain or expand the building’s features and capacities.
  • Collaborating with BAS vendors and solution to use the data from BAS components to improve a building’s performance or reduce its operating cost.
  • Perform Preventative Maintenance and Commissioning tests on complete automation systems.
  • Make recommendations for systems upgrades and efficiency of operations.

Required Experience & Skills

  • Extensive knowledge of multiple brands of manufactures of Building Automation Hardware and Software.
  • 5 years Tridium Niagara integration experience.
  • 5 years hands on troubleshooting and diagnostics of proprietary and non-proprietary control systems.
  • Recent experience working on US Federal Properties, Projects, and systems.
  • Troubleshooting, testing, and repairing/replacing automation equipment that manages a building’s comfort, efficiency, and safety.
  • Troubleshooting electrical control signals to verify operations.
  • Troubleshooting programming via computer control software to verify proper operations.
  • Extensive knowledge of HVAC operations and systems.
  • Ability to pass 7-year background investigation for access to US Federal Owned facilities, Property and Systems.

Preferred Education

  • Any Manufacture of Building Automation Controls Training Certification.
  • Niagara Certification preferred.
  • Any HVAC training/certifications.
