Job description

Our Jacksonville Maritime Solutions shipyard is seeking to hire various skill levels from Journeyman level production Shipfitters from step 2 and above mechanics.
These position will be in support our Submarine program at Jacksonville Maritime Solutions shipyard. These roles are responsible for fabrication on submarine manufacturing. The primary tasks will include components to fit/fabricate include but are not limited to structural parts, deck plates, bulkheads and foundations. Basic blue print reading and fitting fundamentals.
Positions for Day and night shift fabrication fitters are available.
Required Skills and Education
Minimum of 2 years shipyard Journeyperson level experience.
Must be able to fabricate components based on NAVSEA drawing requirements with minimum direction given.
Must be able to use hand tools and power tools safely and efficiently
Must be able to pass an oxy-fuel torch test consistent of set up, cutting, and beveling.
Must be able to understand, read and interpret basic welding symbols based on the requirements of Military Standard 22-D.
Have working knowledge of Military Standard 1688 and Military Standard 1689.
Good communication and good interpersonal skills.
Must possess basic reading, writing and mathematical skills.
Previous experience in use of overhead cranes. ( will be trained)
Previous experience in shop equipment such as iron worker, break press and plate roller.
Must be able to work weekends and a variety of shifts as needed
