Description

SAIC is seeking a professional RF Engineer responsible for the development and sustainment of mission-critical airborne Electronic Warfare (EW) systems and countermeasure designs. The engineer will apply professional knowledge and skills to a variety of projects involving advanced RF systems and airborne avionics. This role is focused on solving complex engineering challenges by designing, integrating, and testing advanced EW systems under the guidance of senior technical staff.

As a key contributor to the PMA-272 portfolio, the engineering efforts will directly enhance the capabilities of fleet assets, ensuring the operational effectiveness and strategic protection of our nation’s aircraft.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and integrate of electronic warfare systems, subsystems, and components for airborne platforms.
  • Execute research and development programs related to RF systems and Electronic Countermeasures by applying established engineering principles and methods.
  • Analyze system requirements, threat data, and platform specifications to create innovative technical solutions and robust system architectures.
  • Develop detailed engineering designs and specifications; determine critical project requirements, including materials, manufacturing techniques and validation processes.
  • Conduct and lead system and subsystem testing, including laboratory, ground, and flight test events. Analyze test data to identify root-cause issues and draft recommendations for design modifications.
  • Provide in-service engineering support for fleet EW and RF systems, including troubleshooting, maintenance support, and reliability/maintainability analysis.
  • Evaluate system performance, reliability data, and failure histories to propose and implement significant design improvements.
  • Collaborate with senior engineers, project managers, and technical specialists to drive project objectives and ensure mission success.

Qualifications

Education: 

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Wireless Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or Mechatronics Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 5-7 years of professional experience in RF engineering, including design, analysis, and testing (including testing in an anechoic chamber).
  • Demonstrated expertise in RF signal processing, Digital Signal Processing (DSP), antenna theory, and system modeling.
  • Practical knowledge of Electronic Warfare (EW) systems, including receivers, exciters, antennas, jamming technologies, and threat parameter analysis.
  • Technical Proficiency: Experience with engineering tools and simulation software such as MATLAB, HFSS, CST, AWR, or similar. Strong understanding of DRFM technology, advanced jammer techniques, and RF hardware development.
  • Clearance: Active Top Secret clearance or eligibility to obtain and maintain Top Secret clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, RF Systems, or Electronic Warfare technologies.
  • In-depth familiarity with Navy platforms, operational considerations, and mission environments.
  • Experience with flight testing and qualification of airborne RF/EW systems.
  • Knowledge of electromagnetic interference mitigation and advanced countermeasure techniques.
  • Familiarity with Department of Defense acquisition and system sustainment processes.
