Job overview
The Selector is responsible for building product orders by pallet and loading delivery trucks, while maintaining cleanliness and organization. This position is designed to maximize the loading process by ensuring accurate orders, meeting set target deadlines per hour/ day and ensuring product integrity and quality standards are met throughout the loading/ shipping process.
Essential Job Functions:
  • Move packages, pallets, or other materials to and from storage or production areas, loading docks, delivery vehicles, by hand or using pallet trucks, forklifts, or other equipment.
  • Perform all required procedures and documentation in a safe and efficient manner to maintain the highest quality finished product for our customers
  • Ability to learn inventory and receiving systems
  • Accurately and efficiently load finished product onto trucks and trailers
  • Communicate to supervisors, selectors, and receivers to maintain product flow and prevent distribution disruptions
  • Report all safety concerns immediately to leadership
  • Read work orders or receive oral instructions to determine work assignments or material or equipment needs
  • Ensure product is rotated on trucks and in warehouse in accordance with expiration dates and loading instructions
  • Confirm trucks are loaded accurately, as per Shipping Supervisor's request.
  • Attach identifying tags to pallets or packages to mark them with identifying information.
  • Sort packages or pallets before loading and unloading
  • Getting Information - Observing, receiving, and otherwise obtaining information from all relevant sources
  • Inspecting Equipment, Product, or Material - Inspecting equipment, Product, or materials to identify the cause of errors or other problems or defects
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Stock floor with short product on the dock and maintain return product and empty pallets
  • Maintain the stability of the pallet by properly stacking and shrink wrapping the built pallet
  • Unload returned product and pallets.
  • Perform general housekeeping duties in the warehouse.
  • Maintain cleanliness of warehouse by disposing of trash nightly, sweeping floors daily and using floor scrubber periodically.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Push/pull: Frequently using both hands and arms while moving product via manual pallets jacks/carts exerting a force between 15-50 pounds
  • Standing/Walking frequently; while performing some duties in warehouse; walking on concrete surface throughout the shift
  • Bending frequently to wrap pallets and move product from the picking slot to the pallet
  • Wet & icy conditions in warehouse and in the trailers

WORKING CONDITIONS:
  • Cold environment 38 degrees in warehouse and freezer
  • Being around powered industrial vehicles at the warehouse

  • High School Diploma / GED equivalent
  • Jack pallet certified with an ability to work safely
  • Warehouse experience preferred; freezer/refrigerated environment a plus
  • Basic math, reading writing, speaking and computer skills
  • Ability to work early morning/late night hours
  • Willing to work over 40 hours when required
  • Willing to work any day of the week, weekends, and Holidays
