Job description

Duties & Responsibilities

Staff supervision, scheduling, and work coordination.

Supervises attendants, extra-help employees, and student workers assigned to building operations functions.
Leads shift meetings to communicate expectations, review priorities, and coordinate work.
Develops daily and weekly work plans and coordinates work across shifts.
Provides leadership to attendants in the use of departmental technology systems related to building scheduling and operations, including the transition from the FileMaker building calendar to Momentus Elite.
Assigns and directs custodial, housekeeping, room support, and related operational activities.
Schedules extra-help staff and reviews time records.
Applies University policies, labor agreements, and departmental procedures.

Event support, training, and facility readiness.

Identifies training needs for attendants and coordinates training related to cleaning products, cleaning methods, safety practices, OSHA requirements, CPR, and other operational needs.
Coordinates and oversees facility conversions, room set-ups, and operational support for performances, receptions, luncheons, meetings, classes, and other events, including verifying accuracy and ensuring clear communication from the Events department.
Works with catering, events staff, building users, and other Krannert Center personnel to adapt spaces and resources to program needs and support safe and efficient operations.

Inventory, supplies, and operational support.

Oversees the storage, condition, and availability of equipment, supplies, and materials needed to support public events and daily operations.
Orders and maintains inventory of cleaning supplies and other operational materials needed to keep attendants prepared for assigned duties.

Emergency response and alarm responsibilities.

Initiates emergency notification and evacuation procedures when front-of-house staff are not present and applies the building emergency response plan and public address system appropriately.
Assists the Facility Manager with alarm access and related records for evening attendants responsible for locking and arming the building, performs periodic alarm-related checks, and serves as a primary contact for alarm notifications.
Along with the Facility Manager, participates in on-call responses for alarms and emergencies on a 24-hour basis, including holidays.

Maintenance coordination and building service support.

Monitors building conditions and helps coordinate outside services needed to support the repair, upkeep, and safe operation of the facility.
Works with the Assistant Director for Operations/General Manager, Building and Operations Engineering staff, the Building Electrician, and other relevant personnel to coordinate repairs and maintenance work.
Supports coordination of services that may include painting, masonry, plumbing, electrical, sheet metal, refuse handling, carpentry, and related trades.

Other duties as assigned.

Performs other related duties as assigned in support of building operations, consistent with the needs of the department.
