Job description

Salary: $19.25/Hour Minimum + $3.00/hour Differential per AGCEP Contract
Bargaining Unit (click here for contracts): AGCEP
Report Times: 3:00pm - 9:00pm
Daily Hours: 6 Paid
Work Year: 39 Weeks
Supervisor: Director of School Safety and Security
Civil Service Title: Security Worker
Minimum Requirements: 
Graduation from high school or possession of an equivalency diploma. 
Experience as a security guard or security officer may substitute for education on a year-for-year basis. 
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Current registration as a Security Guard with the New York State Department of State. 
If you are appointed, you will be required to have a valid license to operate a motor vehicle in New York State or otherwise demonstrate your capacity to meet the transportation needs of the job. 
 


















This title is part of the New York Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement Statewide Program (NY HELPS). HELPS Program titles may be filled via a non-competitive appointment. This means that you do not need to take an exam to qualify, but you do need to meet the minimum qualifications of the title.
At a future date (within one year of permanent appointment), employees hired under NY HELPS are expected to have their permanent non-competitive employment status converted to permanent competitive status. You will not have to take an exam to gain permanent competitive status.


Desired Qualifications: 
Prior law enforcement or military background;
Ability to problem-solve independently;
Knowledge of criminal court, family court and state supreme court orders of protection;
Knowledge of custodial agreements, petitions, judgements and orders;
Ability to personally serve district hearing documents at locations both within and outside the Town of Greece at any times necessary during duty hours;
Ability to multitask and be available for assignments at discretion of district admins;
Ability to drive safely at night and in adverse weather;
Ability to transport students from district events to their residence when needed;
Ability to evaluate mental health emergencies and contact proper resources as needed;
Ability to attend school sporting events in multiple locations within duty hours;
Position Summary/Responsibilities: 
Ensuring general safety and security of district students, staff and visitors at locations throughout district;
Carrying and answering district assigned cell phone for communication with district admins and security supervisors;
Responding to calls for service throughout the district in security vehicle. Examples include, transports of students, fire, medical or security emergencies;
Directing traffic at district properties as needed;
Attending school functions taking place during duty hours;
All other duties as assigned.
