Its ongoing development, strong community support, and adoption by major companies indicate a positive future in web development. Skills in Next.js, along with React and JavaScript, remain valuable for developers in this field.

What are some common challenges Next.js Developers face when working on large-scale applications?

Next.js Developers working on large-scale applications often encounter challenges related to performance optimization, such as ensuring efficient server-side rendering and managing code splitting for faster load times. They may also need to address complex routing scenarios and handle data fetching from multiple APIs without slowing down the user experience. Collaboration with UI/UX designers and backend teams is essential to integrate features smoothly, and staying updated with the latest Next.js features is important to maintain scalability and security.

Work EnvironmentWeb development teams, often with full-stack responsibilitiesFront-end development teams, UI/UX focus
Industry UsageWeb applications requiring SEO and performance optimizationInteractive web interfaces and single-page applications

While both roles involve React, Next Js Developers specialize in server-side rendering and full-stack features using Next.js, whereas React Developers focus on building dynamic user interfaces primarily on the client side. The choice depends on project requirements for SEO, performance, and rendering strategies.

What are Next.js developers?

Next.js developers are software professionals who specialize in building web applications using the Next.js framework, a popular React-based tool for creating server-side rendered and static web applications. They are skilled in JavaScript, React, and understand the unique features of Next.js such as routing, API routes, and server-side rendering. Their responsibilities often include developing user interfaces, optimizing performance, and ensuring web applications are SEO-friendly. Next.js developers also work with backend APIs, manage deployments, and integrate modern web technologies to deliver robust and scalable applications.

Is NextJS fullstack or frontend?

Next.js is a React framework primarily used for building frontend applications, but it also supports backend development with server-side rendering and API routes, making it a fullstack framework. Next.js developers often work with both client-side and server-side code to create dynamic web applications.

What is the salary of NextJS developer?

The salary of a Next.js developer varies based on experience, location, and skill level, but typically ranges from $70,000 to $130,000 annually in many markets. Junior developers may earn closer to $70,000, while experienced developers with specialized skills can earn over $120,000. Factors such as remote work, certifications, and project complexity can also influence compensation.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Next.js Developer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Next.js Developer, you need strong proficiency in JavaScript, React, and Next.js, along with a solid understanding of modern web development concepts. Familiarity with tools like Git, RESTful APIs, and experience using frameworks such as Node.js or TypeScript is highly beneficial. Excellent problem-solving abilities, collaboration, and effective communication skills help developers work efficiently within teams and deliver high-quality solutions. These skills ensure optimized, scalable, and maintainable applications that meet client and business needs in a fast-evolving tech landscape.

Job description

FinQuery stands at the forefront of accounting automation, driven by a deep specialty in contract-driven accounting. Our AI-enabled platform transforms how controllers and finance teams operate, seamlessly managing and accounting for the complex financial contracts-like leases, prepaids, and accruals-that are the backbone of modern business. We are not just a software provider; we are the unified subledger that eliminates time-intensive, error-prone technical accounting workflows, ensuring financial reports are accurate and empowering our customers to focus on strategic, high-value tasks.
FinQuery is the global leader in lease accounting (as recognized on G2.com) and serve more than 8,500 customers worldwide. Our growth trajectory has been consistently validated by the Inc 5000, which has recognized us as one of the fastest-growing private companies for five consecutive years.
Solve the Problems That Matter Most
FinQuery is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our Engineering team. The Senior Software Engineer is an experienced technical contributor who combines deep engineering craft with a track record of delivering full-stack features end-to-end. In this role, the engineer acts as a full-stack builder and trusted technical partner-articulating problems clearly, designing solutions across services and interfaces, and guiding work through to reliable, production-quality outcomes. The position owns technical execution within the team, contributes to broader technical direction, and fosters a culture of pragmatic, high-velocity engineering.
Reports to the Director of Engineering.
If you are passionate about building scalable software that solves complex financial challenges, we want to talk to you.
How You'll Make an Impact:
  • Own the delivery of full-stack features end-to-end - designing and building back-end services, REST APIs, and front-end interfaces from requirements through production release
  • Design and evolve microservice architecture, APIs, and data models that scale with the product
  • Drive technical decision-making within the team by shaping approach, challenging assumptions, and bringing clarity to complex engineering problems
  • Apply pragmatic engineering judgment to calibrate effort and test coverage relative to actual risk
  • Maintain a high bar for code quality through thoughtful reviews, clear standards, and a focus on architectural fit and edge cases
  • Maintain clear, living documentation that supports onboarding, cross-team alignment, and team velocity
  • Conduct all business in accordance with FinQuery policies and procedures
  • Perform all other duties as assigned

The Expertise You'll Bring:
  • 5+ years of progressive experience designing and delivering production software systems
  • Professional experience with C# and .NET Core, including frameworks such as .NET MVC and Entity Framework
  • Production experience building front-end applications with a modern framework such as React, Angular, or Vue
  • Experience with relational databases such as PostgreSQL, SQL Server, etc.
  • Hands-on experience with microservices and REST APIs
  • Demonstrated use of AI-assisted development tools such as Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, or Cursor in a professional or project setting
  • Ability to collaborate and communicate across engineering and product teams and stakeholders
Bonus Points If You Have:
  • Hands-on experience with Next.js
  • Hands-on experience with Docker and Kubernetes
  • Hands-on experience with GitHub Actions or comparable CI/CD tooling
  • Familiarity with authentication and authorization patterns such as RBAC and ABAC
  • Previous experience in Fintech or accounting automation
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent
Our Technology Ecosystem
Our engineers work with a modern stack, including:
  • .NET, C#, Entity Framework
  • React, Typescript, Next.js
  • Postgres
  • AWS & Kubernetes
  • GitHub Actions, ArgoCD
  • Agentic development tools (Claude Code, Gemini)

$119,850 - $162,150 a year
The base pay range for this position is $119,850-$162,150 . Please note: The final salary for this position will be determined in FinQuery's sole discretion consistent with applicable law, and based on a variety of factors, including, but not limited to, the applicant's skills, qualifications for the role, job-related knowledge, work experience, and FinQuery's business and other operational considerations.
