Job description

Job Summary
We are seeking a Mid-Level Front End Developer to contribute to Schwab's in-house Creative Center (C2) and help deliver high-quality digital experiences for marketing and business partners. The role will develop and maintain enterprise web experiences using Next.js, React, TypeScript, and Sanity CMS, while translating business, UX, and visual requirements into responsive, accessible, performant, and maintainable applications. The ideal candidate is a curious, collaborative, self-starting engineer with strong analytical and problem-solving skills who can work effectively with designers, content authors, business analysts, engineers, and business stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
• Develop and maintain enterprise web experiences using Next.js, React, TypeScript, and Sanity CMS.
• Build reusable, scalable, and maintainable UI components that support Schwab's digital design system.
• Translate UX and visual designs into responsive, accessible, and performant web experiences.
• Partner with designers, content authors, business analysts, and engineers to deliver high-quality digital experiences.
• Configure and support content models and schemas within Sanity CMS.
• Develop integrations with APIs and dynamic content sources to support personalized customer experiences.
• Optimize websites for performance, accessibility, SEO, and responsive behavior across devices and browsers.
• Participate in code reviews, technical discussions, and Agile team ceremonies.
• Troubleshoot and resolve application defects, styling issues, content rendering issues, and performance concerns.
• Follow established development standards, testing practices, accessibility requirements, and governance processes.
• Create and maintain technical documentation, implementation guidance, and support materials.
• Continuously learn emerging technologies and contribute ideas that improve team effectiveness and digital experiences.
• Collaborate across Marketing, Creative Center (C2), MarTech, and Engineering teams to deliver integrated solutions.
• Translate business and system requirements into effective technical solutions.
• Manage high-priority initiatives and deadlines while maintaining quality and delivery standards.
• Apply modern web development principles to create accessible, responsive, and maintainable applications.
Required Qualifications
• 3-5+ years of software engineering experience.
• Hands-on experience with TypeScript, React, and Next.js.
• Experience with React 18/19 and Next.js 15/16.
• Experience building modern web applications using React and/or Next.js.
• Experience developing reusable components and maintainable front-end code.
• Experience integrating Sanity CMS or other headless CMS platforms with front-end applications.
• Strong foundation in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and modern web development principles.
• Understanding of accessibility standards, including WCAG, and semantic HTML practices.
• Basic understanding of headless CMS platforms and content-driven web architectures.
• Exposure to REST and/or GraphQL API integrations.
• Experience using Git for source control and collaborative development workflows.
• Familiarity with browser developer tools, debugging tools, and troubleshooting techniques.
• Understanding of web performance fundamentals and optimization best practices.
• Experience working within Agile delivery teams.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts in business terms.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with business partners at various levels.
• Self-starter mentality, diligence, and a strong go-getter attitude.
Preferred Qualifications
• 3+ years of experience with ReactJS and Next.js.
• Experience working with Sanity CMS, including content modeling, schemas, Studio configuration, or GROQ queries.
• Experience building applications with TypeScript.
• Experience with Tailwind CSS and component-based design systems.
• Familiarity with reusable pattern libraries and enterprise design systems.
• Familiarity with Jira, Confluence, Mabl, Jest/Vitest, or similar development and testing tools.
• Experience working in regulated industries such as financial services.
• Experience integrating dynamic content and APIs to support personalized digital experiences.
• Demonstrated passion for learning new technologies and modern web development practices.
