Position Overview
Louise S. McGehee is seeking an experienced, organized, team-oriented, and creative Capital Campaign Manager who will play a critical role in providing campaign organization and oversight.
The Campaign Manager will work closely with the Director of Development and campaign volunteers, including the Capital Campaign Co-Chairs, to coordinate and execute McGehee's donor cultivation and recognition strategy. This will require the Campaign Manager to build an understanding of McGehee's philanthropic community, plan for and execute events, and provide overall project management support to ensure that the campaign is moving forward at an appropriately brisk pace. The Campaign Manager will ensure that pledges and gifts are monitored and recorded accurately and that all campaign events are professionally planned and executed.
The Campaign Manager will report to the Director of Development and collaborate with a team that includes the school's Director of Development, Annual Giving Manager, Alumnae Engagement Coordinator, and a shared Advancement Coordinator. The position will be needed as long as the school is engaged in a capital campaign.
Essential Responsibilities
Capital Campaign Management and Organization
  • Provide overall campaign management and organization including managing prospect pipeline reports, prospect strategy, volunteer assignment, and status updates
  • Use research tools to screen and identify prospects, and develop basic prospect research profiles
  • Develop and oversee campaign gift and cashflow reports
  • Manage campaign gift agreements and the accurate recording of campaign pledges/gifts; work closely with the Advancement Coordinator to ensure timely and appropriate stewardship of gifts
  • Ensure appropriate donor recognition/naming is provided within fundraising policies
  • Oversee scheduling of campaign meetings and provide support on campaign presentations, take minutes, and capture next steps for volunteers and staff
  • Work closely with Development team to help execute all recognition events, reports, signage, plaques, and personalized stewardship
  • Assist with production of campaign correspondence including proposals, meeting requests, and statements for outstanding pledge balances
  • Organize and monitor volunteer assignments and provide timely information and materials to support their solicitation work
  • Maintain master campaign calendar including the overall campaign timeline, goals for major milestones, steering committee meeting dates, major prospect meeting dates, campaign-related event dates, pending and upcoming proposal dates
  • Oversee travel booking and scheduling for the Head of School and others who may need to travel for capital campaign purposes
  • Issue and provide analysis on regular progress reports including results to date, recent activity, priority contacts to be made, and next actions to keep the Campaign Committee moving forward

Cultivation and Community
  • Develop prospect profiles for volunteers in advance of meetings
  • Help prepare grant applications for community and family foundations
  • Gather and track information about prospects
  • Plan for and manage the execution of campaign events
  • Attend special events as needed

Qualifications and Experience
Skills & Professional Experience
  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Strong communication skills (written, oral, and presentation)
  • Well-developed strategic, critical, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to develop, implement, and analyze strategies with minimal oversight
  • Proven ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality regarding information related to prospects and donors
  • High degree of competency with Microsoft Office software, CRM databases (preferably Raiser's Edge), Google Drive suite, and email marketing programs
  • Knowledge of and experience with a Mac environment preferred
  • Active engagement in professional development and current knowledge of best practices
  • Ability to effectively communicate the School's vision and case for support for institutional priorities
  • Three to five years of fundraising experience, preferably at an independent school or higher educational environment
  • Experience working on a capital campaign is preferred
