Job description

Job Title: Marketing Specialist

Industry: Association / Marketing & Communications / Digital Content

Location: Washington, DC (Hybrid - 4 days on site)

Assignment Type: Contract (3-5 months)

Pay: $28-32/hour (commensurate with experience)

Work Schedule: 37.5 hours/week | Monday–Friday | Standard business hours

The Marketing Specialist will support the organization’s communications initiatives by producing newsletters, developing digital content, and collaborating with executives and subject matter experts.

 

Job Description:

The Marketing Specialist will manage newsletter production, develop engaging digital content, and work closely with internal teams to support communications projects. This role is ideal for someone with strong writing and editing skills, attention to detail, and experience producing high-quality marketing materials in a fast-paced environment.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with executives and subject matter experts to draft scripts and talking points for presentations.
  • Oversee newsletter production, including content compilation, writing, review, and publishing.
  • Write and edit 1–2 news items weekly, including research reviews.
  • Conduct member research for article mentions and share relevant links with section heads.
  • Review and edit content from staff and members, ensuring adherence to AP style and organizational branding.
  • Conduct online research to enhance content credibility.
  • Provide content production support as needed for other communications initiatives.

 

Qualifications:

  • 4+ years of experience in marketing and communications, with a focus on content development (e.g., newsletters).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and marketing tools.
  • Exceptional writing and editing skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Strong project management capabilities and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Positive, collaborative attitude and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required.
