Job description

The Embarcadero Media Foundation, the premiere news nonprofit in the Bay Area's Tri-Valley, has an immediate opening for the day-to-day editor of our East Bay Division, which includes LivermoreVine.com, DanvilleSanRamon.com and the 2025 CNPA General Excellence First-Place award winner Pleasanton Weekly.
The Weekly and its sister websites are the trusted hyperlocal news and information portal serving readers in Pleasanton, Livermore, San Ramon, Danville, Dublin, Sunol, Alamo and Blackhawk. The editor manages a dedicated team of reporters, freelancers and interns to produce a must-read daily Express newsletter for each site, and supports the Editorial Director in the publication of the weekly newspaper. The East Bay Division Editor is part of weekly management meetings and helps to plot the course of the organization as we work to build better communities through accurate, fair, contextual and engaging journalism.
The winning candidate will have at least three years of daily journalism experience as well as experience managing reporters. The next leader of East Bay Division is a sharp line editor and fluent in AP Style. They must be available for full-time work that is primarily done 8-to-5 weekdays, but there will be some night and weekend work to assure readers get the very latest breaking news. The editor will also be a face for the news brands in the community and is expected to attend community events and represent the organization when necessary. We offer a hybrid workplace, but the East Bay Division Editor can work regularly out of our convenient Pleasanton office if preferred.
This salaried position comes with excellent health benefits, two weeks of paid vacation and a retirement savings plan. The pay range is between $70,000 and $75,000 annually.
Requirements
* 3-5 years of experience in daily journalism
* Bachelor's degree or higher in journalism or related field
* Knowledge of Google, Adobe and Microsoft tools
* Familiarity with WordPress platform preferred
* Understanding of issues of the Tri-Valley, Alameda County and Contra Costa County preferred.
